Glazer: Is Carr a better QB than Manning?(Eli)
Eddie George:Yes (Sehorn and Brown nod head in agreement)
Sehorn: (Peyton Manning, Eli manning, doesn't matter whose behind that line-the line sux)
Brown: (coach shouldn't have sat Carr when he's having a good season.)

I didin't epxpect any positive comments about the Texans, especiallly the QB.

I agree with everyone!

Kubiak did the right thing benching Carr, as he was setting an example for the team. No sacred cows.

On the other hand, Carr IS a better QB than Eli Manning. He's done more (QBically speaking anyhow) and he's done it under significant pressure.

I didin't epxpect any positive comments about the Texans, especiallly the QB.
The national view of Carr is very positive because it is very stats driven, and nationally he still has a bunch of stored good will--stable mature player who hasn't cracked. Nationally there isn't the belief that the Texans were stupid for passing on VY, and the local argument that came from that, which often led to Carr trashing.

The national view of Carr is skewed in my opinion because the QB rating doesn't look at fumbles. It also doesn't look at style. Yeah, he can get some good completion percentages, and he can also make silly decisions and look a little happy footed and give up the ball in situations where he can't do that.

The line does suck. Player for player, there are not too many teams that would be coveting anyone on that line other than Pitts.

I don't have a problem at all with what Kubiak did. He isn't the kind of coach who is playing the revolving quarterbacks game, but if a player isn't doing what he knows that player can do, he's gonna deal with it.

It's weird, because if the line sucks that bad, how did they produce a 100+ yard rusher last week, as well as protect Rosenfels enough to get three TD passes and avoid even one sack? I understand Tennessee went into a cover 2 defense, but Sage did avoid some rushes that might have fell DC.

When Kubiak took Carr out of the game in Nashville, I was very surprised but
admired his decisivness at the time.
However, upon reflection and with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, I now wonder about the wisdom of his decision ? Hasn't he kinda painted himself into a corner and cut himself off from options for when Carr screws-up again ? And Carr will screw-up again.
And Kubiak said after the game that Carr was the future of the Texans.
Surely he doesn't really mean that, not now. Once and for all, the Texans
future shouldn't be tied to Carr's own ability make it as an NFL QB. Maybe had
we drafted him this year or last maybe. But he's now a 5 year vet, I don't
think so.
Personally speaking, Carr's performance in that game was a turning point for me re my confidance in his ability to succeed, atleast with the Texans.

In cover two, they allowed a 15 yard touchdown(it's recorded as a 10 yard TD, because we were on the 10, but AJ was at least 5 yards into the endzone.

Sage completed an 18 yard pass, a 28 yard pass, a 21 yard pass, a 12 yard pass.

If that's against a cover 2, then I think even more of Sage Rosenfels..

But let's talk about OL..... if we could take anyone off the NYG offensive line, who would you take??

They've given up 15 sacks in seven games, we've given up 20. They gave up 0 sacks to the colts, we gave up 4......

We gave up 5 sacks to Philly, they gave up 7 in regulation, & 1 in overtime..... & still won the game.

WE gave up 1 to Washington, they gave up none..

We gave up none to Dallas, they gave up 2.....

He was benched for fumbling twice in one game........ back to back possessions.

if he doesn't do that again, he should be okay.

It was against a deep cover 2. The safeties drop really deep & it opens up corner routes, which is what our WRs were running.

I dont wanna take anything away from Sage cuz he played like an All-Pro but the coverage was really really soft.

I agree with this. I have no personal vendetta against Carr, if he can get in there and perform then I'm in support of him. But after last week's performance for the first time ever I have serious doubts in Carr's ability to take this team to the playoffs.

Another comment I'd like to make is that the national media's perception of our offensive line is still stuck on what they saw last year. IMO, our offensive line isn't star studded, it isn't turning in pro-bowl performances, but it is no longer the achilles heel for us that it once was. It took a few weeks to get our crap together, but the last few weeks (minus the penalties last week) they've turned in decent performances. Sure Salaam and Weigert gave up some easy sacks, but every line in this league gives those up every once in a while if you haven't noticed. Forget the personnel, look at the results. Lundy's been able to run for 5-6 yards a carry and Carr/Sage were able to make some plays in the passing game. I think the offensive line needs to continue to improve, and we need to continue to look for upgrades in the off-season, but what held us back last week was inconsistent quarterback play and poor ST's play. If we get a good performance from Carr I think we can compete with most teams right now. And by good performance I don't mean 300 yds and 3 TD's, I mean 1-2 TD's with 1 or fewer turn overs and solid decisions on 3rd downs. If Carr needs to take a sack that's one thing, but he's fumbling far too often and that is something that he needs to get a handle on.

Other than the Jacksonville game, can you think of any game that Carr played better??

I've been a fan of Eli Manning and his work ethic. I personally think he will be better than Carr, though Carr is having the better season. Keep in mind, Eli does not have Kubiak or the five years' experience.

Try TVU or something similar. Giants games are usually on.

This must be a trick question because other than the Dallas game I thought Carr was decidedly better in every game so far this season. Hell, even the Dallas game was better. Carr's turned the ball over in the past, but against Tennessee his INT was near the Titans red zone, one fumble went for a TD with 8 seconds left in the half, and another fumble occurred in Titan territory. Aside of the TO's, Carr didn't even look sharp on his other passes either, which is a change from his previous performances.

both games, I'm pretty sure he completed 70% of his passes. & the Int to AnthonyHenry was on our side of the field. & that, IMHO was his only mistake. The other Int was just a really good play by Bradie James, and an even better play by Ellis to catch the ball.

His Int against Tennesse was closer to our red zone..... I think we were on the Tenn 30.

Against Indy, there was one play were he took off with the ball, and fumbled for no apparent reason.... Indy was a three fumble game by Carr, 1 of those fumbles was recovered by Indy..... on our 16 yard line.

He fumbled 3 times against Washington..... 2 were on bad snaps, the third, I can't remember if it was stripped or not, but we lost the ball on the washington 43.... The worst thing about the other two fumbles, was that it seemed like it hyped up the defense, and they'd blitz, and Carr got sacked, and we'd punt.

Miami, I think was his best game, he was making some good throws, stretching the field..... still not much across the middle, but he went to his WRs early, and challenged the coverage.

Dallas....... Another good game, before the two Ints..... after that, I think he just stopped trying to go downfield.

Jacksonville.... I was scared when he threw that jumpball to AJ in the endzone, but it worked out ok. Our Defense stepped up for this game, but I think Kubiak was expecting them to step up in the Dallas game, and get us a stop after one of those turnovers....... but oh well, better late than never.

I'm not trying to rag on Carr, or take away from your take of the game. But David Played just as well Sunday, as he has all year.

His level of play has nothing to do with big 'ole TroyBrown returning that ball for a TD, when the rookie DT from Washington couldn't do the same. Or the guys who recovered his fumbles in Indy, or jasonTaylor not being able to return the fumble he forced, recovered, and ran back....

The Int....... Aj had those three guys beat. I still think if he'd have not put so much air under it, he'd have beat Chris Hope, and that would have been an amazing play.

That's interesting, in your sig it says "best QB in the game" with an arrow to Eli. So how's Carr better? lol

If you're only looking at the numbers of turnovers then his statistics are very similar, except this time he had 3 TO's basically in 2 quarters of play instead of 4. He completed a similar percentage of passes, but this game he had a disproportionate amount of dump down's as opposed to passing down the field, IMO. My take is he didn't take care of the ball at crucial points in the game, and he didn't make plays down field against Tennessee. He was better in both of those categories in every other game this season, IMO.

On the INT to AJ I think Carr saw AJ was outrunning the first 3 defenders and he didn't see Chris Hope waiting on the left side of the field.

He was better in both of those categories in every other game this season, IMO.

On the INT to AJ I think Carr saw AJ was outrunning the first 3 defenders and he didn't see Chris Hope waiting on the left side of the field.
yeah, I don't think he saw Hope either.

Carr hasn't really thrown downfield much at all, unless we were down by 21 points. Only exception in my opinion, is the Miami game, were he did challenge the secondary.
