Isn't it toally pathetic that the Texans are completely incapable of getting an interception. I know you can probably pin a little bit on the lack of pressure but still. Our secondary is totally pathetic. The safeties rank out of 5 at about 2

Well I rarely see anyone in position to get the pick. I always see the 2-5 yards behind the WR trying to make sure that he doesn't get past them after he catches the ball. The quality of our defensive backs can be judged by how fast each of them makes the tackle once the catch is made (that the opposing WR will make the catch is a foregone conclusion assuming the ball is catchable).

It's impossible to get an interception when you don't know how to turn your head around. I can't tell if this is happening because our secondary is talentless or if it's a technique that's not being coached. Either way our secondary is pathetic.

Now I question the retainment of one Mr. John Hoke, and correct me if I am wrong but usually the opposing team won't go after our best CB right? It seems as if Dunta was targeted all game which the Boys must have seen something on film. That leads me to say that it is probably the players, Pac-Man is always targeted but he recovers every game and shows me something.

most INT's come from pressure and forced decisions....we have no pressure unless we blitz. It doesn't help that our secondary sucks. CC Brown is no FS.

Interceptions also come when the CB jumps the route, but we as Texan fans wouldn't know anything about that!:brickwall

CB's tend to jump routes when QB's are getting pressure and forcing passes. It's hard to jump a route when the QB has no pressure and can take his time making a decision.

A defense will never dominate without a good line (interceptions are part of domination). With three first round picks and a high priced FA, our d-line is fast becoming the example of futility in action.

No interceptions . . are just another of those effects of not getting pressure without blitzing.

Everyone yells "BLITZ BLITZ BLITZ" and then dogs the secondary for not coming up with big play.

Until you deal with the cause . . no pressure from the front four by themselves, then count on no interceptions.

The answer is actually three fold... the case you describe here, is correct with the DuntaRobinson school of CB play.

Lewis Sanders would already have 7 pics this year if he could catch a ball.

David had all day to throw that ball to AJ, no pressure whatsoever..... Henry still managed to jump the route, and get an INT.

And you don't think that the total inability to run the ball effects the type of coverage on receivers, and makes it more difficult to find open receivers, but again with no running game, makes it more difficult to not force the ball into tight coverage? And you don't think that pressure from the DL alone, without blitzing, is going to allow the secondary more chances to jump routes?

But nooooooo . . . it was either Carr's fault, or our secondary sucks. I get it.

Bottom line is our secondary sucks and yes I am saying Dunta is included in this. For every good play he makes, he makes two more bad plays. If he is the shut down corner we all think he is then where are the plays that proove it.

Our team should have some interceptions, but the DB's are just horrible. Sanders and McCleon along with PBUC have no clue where the ball is. Dunta had a good game, but for the most part has been missing for several games now. 2 of T.O's TD's should not have happend with the guys double teaming him, that just should not happen.

That was a poor decision and an equally poor example. He was well covered and Carr was totally locked on to AJ.

Actually Carr was locked on the middle of the field and looking at the safeties, like a QB should, he then panned to AJ and thew the ball. AJ has got to get after the ball. It seems that if the ball isn't perfectly thrown to AJ then he's not going to get it.

I donno...I watched and rewatched that play. I didn't see him look off anyone. That ball took forever to get there too (Carr doesn't have a very quick release on his deeper passes - he kind of leans back and throws his left shoulder up...it's a hitch in his passing motion and a tell for the defenders).

The difference in where we are and where the Cowboys are is David throws into double coverage and it's picked (bad decision). Bledsoe throws into double coverage (bad decision) and Owens catches the ball for a TD.

I agree he locked in on AJ from the snap. The Cowboys were in a zone no reason to throw to that side of the field. Answer to all those on the board who always want the ball forced to AJ no matter the coverage. This one was on David. But no reason one mistake should be the end of the game.

Now the ball hangin up there too long I agree with, Carr didn't put the mustard on that like he usually does. But look at again, his head is lookins straight down the field and then he veers his head to the left. They play a cover 2 so the safeties aren't going to be looked off too much, they have a job to cover their lanes. Really, though, make no mistake about it, Carr threw that interception, it's on him. I'd just like to see our WR's go after the ball, AJ just looks like he gives up too much.

IRVING - Quarterback David Carr understands the reality of the situation. At this point, the Texans have no running game, and the offense rests on his right arm.

Twice against the Cowboys on Sunday, Carr's arm let him down. He threw two interceptions, both of which led to touchdowns, in the 34-6 loss to Dallas at Texas Stadium.

Afterward, Carr took the blame for the interceptions and the loss.

"It's tough," Carr said. "It's a situation where you ask a lot of your wide receivers. They were battling all day trying to get open for me. I just didn't make enough plays. It's my fault. If we're going to lean on the passing game, I've got to step up and make every play."
