Default Its hard to believe that Mario is only 21? When will he be in his prime?

Just thinking today that Mario is only 21, very young, when will he reach his prime?

Julius Peppers was drafted the same year as Carr. When did we start hearing his name? I think it was 2 years in.

I don't know how hard it is to believe since his birth was registered in NC and is public record.

EVERYONE knew who Peppers was in his rookie debut.

I just researched it also and was on my way to correct myself. I remember hoping we would pass on Carr to get Peppers.

Well, it didn't happen and this is what we have.

It is what it is!!!

25 to 28 is NFL prime time. Mario is progressing. I saw a better more complete player today than 4 week ago. By the end of teh season he shoul be light years ahead of where he was week 1. A whole off season of NFL coaching and training and he should really be a force next year.

Like the rest of the team, this season will be a building block. I dont care if Mario only ends up with 1.5 sacks this season as long as he progresses enough to be a force next year when we have a chance to be competative

This is nothing against Mario Williams at all, but based on how things seem to work with the Texans organization, Mario Williams will hit his prime at about the age of 42.

Unless the Texans start making better personnel decisions, we aren't going to be competitive next year either. I do give them kudos for a good draft even in hindsight. If we had to do it over again we might make a different first pick, but that isn't real clear after 5 games either. Overall we were strong in the draft.

The free agent signings and trades are a different mattter. It looks like we've overpaid for some positions as usual, picked up some players who aren't very good, and haven't pulled the trigger on some players that might help. Some of the roster moves are confusing in that they don't do much to provide veteran leadership this year or help build for next year.

i'm going to put my heterodoxic take on MW here.

i've yet to see him engage the RT head-on then make an inside move. he seems to me to take the path of least resistance each play, essentially bolting upfield then trying to chase the play down from behind. can someone who has seen more games please tell me this is not representative of his skills?

he looks like a 3-4 DE to me...he's a bit of a tweener....he's certainly doesn't have any pass rushing skills right now. Williams looks like a prototype 3-4 end. Tall, athletic, strong but rangy enough and has plenty of speed on the edge to battle wco te/fb screens and short action to the flats. He doesn't seem to be a natural pass rusher, but you don't need to be one if you run the 3-4. Oh the irony.
