Hats off to the fans!!!!

I just wanted to say that much speculation has gone on to how the Texans won this game and many have had their opinions.

I am going to throw another reason why I think they won. The fans were not booing after the first 3 and out on offense. After reviewing the game I noticed there wasn't much boooing going on except for the 2min drill before the half. Which I can understand because that is more in the lines of believing we can do something with the time we had.

I believe that the lack of booing resulted in a Texan team that wanted to bring home the victory to the fans in attendance and those there in spirit. They also seemed to not lose confidence throughout the game and didn't fold under the pressure. In other words because of no booing there wasn't anyone thinking the game was already over.

Now how much of that is because the real fans were in the stands or not is another question but for right now, my hat goes off to the fans!!!!!!!!!

Although I wasn't there, I noticed that the crowd came alive after Mario got his sack. I was screaming for him in my living room so I know that place had to be ELECTRIC at that moment. That point seemed to put a extra step in the defense and it looked like they definately fed off of it.

I was in the front row by the bull pen and after mario got his sack(s), my brain hurt from all the noise. It was great to see all the guys on D get so pumped up from the fans. maybe, instead of booing and bringing down our team, we'll remember how much a bit of cheering did for our boys. Lets get the house rocking each week and see what a alot of positive support can do for our guys!

I was there and that was the loudest i've ever heard reliant be and it was amazing espeically in the 4th quarter and after mario got his first sack. The house was rocking and i wish every game could be like that.

Like an earlier post, a little cheering might actually help more. I mean I was real suprised when the team first went 3 and out not to hear the boos. The only thing bad about that is we only have like 5 more games at Reliant. However, we do have one on Oct 22 before we go on a 3 game road trip. Maybe we can send off our boys on a good note.

I honestly think too much is being made about fans booing. While I'm not one to participate (unless it's at the end of a 2-14 year), I don't think players' minds are so fragile that they can't take a little criticism.

Think about your own job. If you mess up big, does your boss clap and cheer for you? Or do you get an arse-chewing? Do you crumple in a ball and want to be cuddled for that arse-chewing? Or does it motivate you to prove your boss wrong and fire you up?

Being a football fan is an emotional state, among other things. And when you're high on hopeful emotion, being let down can elicit a negative reaction.

Houston is no different than any other city. I can guarantee you that no NFL is immune from getting booed by their fans if they put a 2-14 product on the field. That, my friends, is the nature of sports fanaticism.

ps. I'm glad that fans were patient during the first half, too. And it was great to hear "Mario!" being chanted after his first sack. Build it and they will come. Play hard and fans will cheer.

I have missed 3 home games since 02, and it was th loudest I have heard Reliant since the Dallas game in 02. Too bad the place wasn't full.

It is Tuesday and my voice still hasn't fully recovered. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that when Mario got his sacks and the stadium erupted the momentum was insurmountable for Miami.

I wonder what it sounds like to those guys down there on the field. It obviously helps them, there is no doubt!! I jumped up in the air so high a couple of times screaming, I shocked myself. I missed my calling, I should have been a high jumper. LOL Maybe that's not what they are called, but oh well, you get the picture. It was exciting! Brought back old memories of the past! That's how I was acting.

Saw the game on TV and at times it was like the very first game. I think the times the crowd did boo was because they wanted to see what they KNEW the Texans could do if given a chance. Which is kick butt.

There is a lot of doubt in my mind. The Philly and Washington games had crowd noise for our defense like crazy, but yielded absolutely no results. Heck, the Redskins only had one play out of 60+ for a loss, and that was when Brunell kneeled to kill the clock at the end of the game!

It's nice to see the crowd into the game, but the defense has to consistently give us something to cheer about. Screaming like crazy and losing your voice for a 32nd placed D is a tough order.

Oh course i had to settle watching the game on tv, but i was wondering if the mario chant was really loud there???? ts always hard to tell on tv but i was hoping it was because i was screaming at the top of my lungs i was sooo excited...

I heard no Mario chant and was a little puzzled when I read about it. Must have been a localized deal. But during those three consecutive plays I did hear, and was part of a high decibel crowd response on the order of what we've heard in past home games against New England, Jax, and TN. It felt good.

The Bradford TD and The Safety in Game 1, and Earl's 81 yard run are still my benchmarks for ear bleeding experiences.

There's booing in every NFL stadium.

I agree with you, but you have got to admit that it feels good to WANT to scream and jump and then it actually ends good and it is worth it. You don't have that "let down after the high" feeling we have all gotten used to. I loved it! It's only a start, but it is better than no start.
