Cool Carr=Culpepper

A week ago Sun, I was in Miami watching the Dolphins get their first win against the hapless Titans, 13-10. Culpepper looked like a rookie, holding the ball too long, waiting until the Titans defense was almost on top of him before throwing an incompletion or trying to run the ball with little to no success. He reminded me alot of David Carr...holding onto the ball too long, indecisive....I watched the Texans/Miami game this last Sunday and saw more of the same, from Culpepper and of coarse, Carr. Two bad teams...one of them had to win. I bet 5 bucks on the Texans and won! I hope Carr makes it in the NFL because I like him, but I have my doubts. I think Kubiac will turn things around for the Texans...eventually. Hopefully.

Maybe that was the old carr, but he's gotten a tune-up (sorry) from Kubiak and is well on his way to his best season. On pace for 28 TD's, 8 INT's and 3300 yards on a team that so far has shown very little on the ground. Ill take that kind of indecison from my QB any day.

Carr has surpassed everyones expectations so far this season and the best part is he is just now getting into a new system. He has 4 games worth of experience in Kubiaks scheme and is already doing a good job. He has the potential to get alot better, especially if we can get the running game going to open things up more and improve the protection so he has more time to throw(we're getting there, even with the 5 sacks he had time to make his reads and get the ball off most of the time).

is less than 2 seconds "too long?" because that's how long culpepper had to hold onto the ball 99% of the time he's been sacked this year. the first play of the game was a sack on some fake reverse where he was hit the instant he turned around to face the field.

yet despite everything he's completing 60% of his passes.

If you watched the same game as everyone else and thats what you got out of it...maybe football isn't your game. I say that because you clearly don't understand what you are seeing.

CArr wasn't perfect but he was good. THe interception was his first of the season and it was Andre's fault-not David's. It was really just a dang good defensive play. David is first in the NFL in QB rating and completion percentage, and he is 7 th in yards per attempt. He accomplished this with the league's worst defense, no running game and a questionable line for the last 2 games.

In the miami game, Carr was very decicive and led his offence down the field. He showed poise and play-faked his way to a walk-in touchdown. He was 22-29 for 230 yards and 2 touchdowns. that doesn't sound indecisive.

Yes, he still has fumblitis but he wil get over that.

It's good to know what you are talking about before writing, otherwise you sound like an ***** troll spouting nonsense.

I don't agree with most of the comparisons made in this thread.

However, I find it funny that even though Carr is probably the brightest spot on this offense right now, some people are still nitpicking a play here or a play there. I know Carr has played for four seasons now, but he is a new quarterback in Kubiak's offense.

Daunte Culpepper does not need an introduction in any football setting, but he is having a rough year as a quarterback playing a new offense.

I think when some people form an opinion based upon one set of circumstances (Carr's play under the Capers regime), it then becomes hard for them not to focus on the bad. I'm not going to point any fingers, but some of you people need to open your eyes a little bit. Even Peyton Manning has a 5 int game every once in a while. None of these NFL QBs are all that every week.

You can scream "David Carr sucks" or "spice it up with Sage" at the top of your lungs all you want. It simply isn't going to happen. Even though Carr's QB rating took a hit this week, I thought he looked even better:

He is reading defenses.

He is making adjustments based on his reads. eg. moving receivers and TE's based on his reads

He is going through progressions.

He is hanging in the pocket to give his receivers time to get open.

He is making accurate throws downfield when he knows he's about to get drilled.

He keeps getting up after being sacked and hit more than any other quarterback these last 4 plus years.

So, complain while your glass is half empty. My glass is 3/4 full.

From the Cincinnati Post:
"Sunday's 38-13 loss to New England at Paul Brown Stadium continued a curious streak for the Bengals. They have now lost their last six home games against teams with winning records."

Gosh. I love it when fans from other teams come to visit, and they make weak attempts to talk smack.

How is Carson Palmer doing these last couple of games? I like him, but I'm starting to have my doubts.

FYI: it's Kubiak.

Looks like you need to run home, little kitty, and worry about your own team. They got thrashed by what is supposed to be a weak Patriots team, and from that little trivia up there, they may be a paper tiger in general.

Don't worry, though. I think Louis will turn things around for the Bengals...eventually.

Carr is reaping the benefits of a coach who actually has a SYSTEM. He's only going to get better. Kubiak is teaching Carr how to lead this team and having him understand that this is his team, as he goes the team goes. Sorry but the same can't be said for Culpepper. To me this guy is hurting the dolphins, mobility sucks, accuracy sucks, leadership sucks, and no more getting your roll-ons. I really don't like no other team other than mt TEXANS, but I think they should give J.Harrington a shot, he might be able to do something.

You can't tell people that.... I've timed them on both sides of the ball. On avg(roughly) our opposing QB has had 2.5 seconds to throw the ball.... that was too long.

On avg.... David Carr has had 2.5 seconds to throw the ball..... that wasn't long enough.

The sack where Mario fell on Cullpepper after Weaver sacked him, was a long 1 seconds.. I'd guess 1.7 or so.. other than that, they were all over 2.5 seconds.

You're pretty much making the same argument Every Carr Hater has made in the last 4 years..... only in reverse...... forget the rating, forget the stats.... look at the things you say he is doing...... those are the same things the Haters (I'm not a Carr hater) has been saying he hasn't been doing.

Blame it on the coach if you want, but why should you have to tell a starting QB to go through his progression........ look off the safety..... if AJ runs his route, you should be able to hit him hear between the corner & the safety... or that Aj is 2 feet taller than anyone in the backfield, just throw him the ball??

Carr's doing a lot better now, but that just goes to prove he hasn't been.

Carr is better than Culpepper (at least this year). They are both afraid, but David is settling down. Who knows how good he can be with a little confidence. Frankly our O-Line isn't progressing at the same rate the QB is (albeit that is with smoke & mirrors of motion...motion...motion).:brickwall
