Bethel Johnson? - Houston Texans Message Board & Forum

I'd heard a rumor last week that we were going to try out Bethel Johnson, primarily as a KR but possibly as a WR option. Has anyone else heard this or know anything about it one way or the other?

I believe he was recently cut by the Saints, after spending several seasons with the Pats. He's an Aggie alum but a real burner.

Orr as a pass-rusher and run-stopper is serviceable, but he's not good in zone coverages. Either way I don't think we'll do better this year.

ahhh...bethel johnson-1 of my all-time favourite madden receivers LOL- seriously though hed be a decent returner and could stretch the field as a wr... scored an 80 yd td last year v the chiefs IIRC

I agree. After the game against Miami I would like to see more of him. He had a nice catch and looked good on his end around. The guy has moves and is quick. When he took that KR out from 3-5 deep in the edn zone and ended up at the 35 I realized that we have found our replacement for Mathis.

clocked a 4.2 coming out of college I love his speed and change of direction ability.. if we could pick him up as a 4th WR or KR/PR that would be nice..

with all the targets in NE he kinda got lost in crowd (Brown, Givens, Branch, Watson and Graham)

Bethel is a nice name for a position we do not need. If he does not help our O line, our secondary or our LB's then this is nothing but someone in personnel showing their boss they are doing their job in my opinion.

Bring him in, but does he make us better? And, if so, where?

oh i nearly forgot about edell shephard. he HAS been pretty good. lundy is the one i wasnt too thrilled over. he doesnt just GO like mathis does.

Kubiak on the radio show said that they expect Jerome Mathis back this season. That currently, he is out of the boot, doing his rehabilitaton, and is about a week behind where Kailee Wong is.

Still didn't give a definitive time frame. (He also suggested that it was not likely Faggins would be ready for the Dallas game, tho he will be working out soonishly).
