I'm a real fan

I already posted this, but I wanted to go ahead and create a topic so people can see it.

Its my team and I will cry if I want to.

To all the fans out there who think that all the teams problems are a result of the complaining fans,
To all the fans out there who think that if you complaing about the team, you aren't a true fan,
To all the fans out there who complain about complainers,
To all the fans out there continuously making excuses for the team,

Please stop! Let me get one thing straight into your head--The Texans are AWFUL! We would not be watching the games, buying the tickets, posting on messageboards, buying the jerseys if WE WEREN'T FANS. It takes a true fan to continue to watch the games and complain on the messageboards when the team is this bad. If we weren't fans, we would have quit caring long ago.

Sure you can tell me that all those things don't make a fan, and its only the ones who believe in the team from day 1 even when they are doing awful that are the real fans, but guess what, I don't care! This team sucks right now, and if you still "believe" in the them and want to condemn me for not believing in them right now than thats fine. If they turn it around, I'll be ecstatic. But until I see SOME sign of hope, I will continue to believe they suck.


Heres how I feel --- If you still check this messageboard, attend games, cheer for the Texans after 5 years of sucking with no end in sight, you are a real fan, and don't let the "super" fans on their soapboxes get you down!

You wouldn't have spent the time it took to write this if you weren't a fan...

And yes I think you should be allowed to point out that the team is terrible right now...

I've missed maybe 2 or 3 games during the life of the franchise (maybe slightly more due to the Austin stations picking other games to broadcast) but the last few weeks has really gotten to me...I'm starting to HATE the NFL and it comes down to finding the Texans painful to watch. I can't really watch random games because I only really get into it if MY team is playing, but the Texans barely resemble pro-football right now.

I can forgive a player when they make a physical mistake. I can even forgive a blatant mental mistake to a certain extent. What has me down after today is when the COACHES make what appears to be blatant mental mistakes (Refusing to blitz a team that showed a weakness to it last week...making odd personnel decisions etc).

All this "real fan" talk is bunk. We care. When the fans stop caring this team is sunk. People are going to complain at an awful product on a NFL message board.

I cant stand Houston fan, looked like LA fan today.

This is all well and good and I am sure that you are more of a fan than I am... But

I dont think there is anyone on this board who needs help figuring out that the Texans are playing poorly right now. There has got to be something you can offer the rest of us that is better than "This Team Sucks" and "I Hate The Texans" and "Mario Is A Bust" and "Carr Is A Looser".

What is the point of all that?

Fans need to get off each others' backs, because everyone has a right to vent their frustrations for a pathetic product.

10 minutes? I saw them leaving a half time. We moved down and got great seats. Why, I don't know. I guess to look at the cheerleaders closer and maybe shake the hand of Toro...

Complaining doesn't make you less a fan, it is how you chose to complain that sets one fan apart from another. It is like disciplining (sp?) your kids and dealing with your spouse....say it firmly, be consistant and concise and most importantly, do it with love.

I never have bought this "you're not a REAL fan" bs. I am a fan. Of the Houston Texans. And I have every right as a fan to gripe or praise. Don't blame the fans on the fact that we still stink after all this time. Yes. WE STINK. As of NOW. But I expect it to get better.
