Default HPF:Turn Around, Bright Side...

wow!!! I hate to put another Carr thread in,but thought this was a good glass 1/2 full..1/2 empty read

Quote:
Hey, look on the bright side: At least Peyton Manning provided more fuel for our burning hatred of him. Up 20-3 at halftime against our defenseless Texans, Manning came out and threw more second half passes (18) than David Carr (14), who, you know, was kind of, sort of trying to make up a 4-score deficit. Manning even threw six times in the fourth quarter with his team up by 27.

What a movie starring Johnny Knoxville.

Here’s hoping that when he cuddles with Archie and Eli later this winter to watch the NFL playoffs, the lasting memories of Sunday will help soothe the sting of a ninth consecutive season not ending with a Super Bowl appearance.

Meanwhile, since there’s roughly a 138% chance the Texans will be joining the Mannings on the sidelines this January, here’s hoping David Carr’s performance in the same game does more than heal the wounds of a lost season; let’s hope it was more evidence that Gary Kubiak has the quarterback pointed in the right direction.
please read the whole article before posting about this next snippet before you comment.(quote doesn't tell the whole story or point of view)

Quote:
3. There Are No Coincidences
Denver has scored just 19 points in their first two games of the post-Kubiak era. Without his offensive coordinator, Jake Plummer has reentered the earth’s atmosphere and splashed down somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean; and chances are pretty good Mike Shanahan is going to leave him there. Plummer’s numbers so far this year: 0 touchdowns; 4 interceptions; 38.6 QB rating.

Oh, by the way, Carr is second in the NFL with a 123.7 QB rating…

Hmm, after 2 games Carr has 4 TD's, no ints. Plummer has 4 ints, no TD's. Must be the Kubiak phenomenon.

I've watched both of Denver's games. It's not pretty.

Plummer was booed big time by the Broncos home crowd last week.

that was a good article.

If Carr emerges from this season with confidence and plays like a pro, it will be a winning season for our franchise regardless of our record. **fingers crossed**

it, to me, doesn't seem to me as though carr has forced as much as he used to, trying to make a play. that's just me though...so

The one thing im still not that happy with in regards to the passing game is we have only realy thrown deep in twice in two games. A 44 yarder to AJ an d35 yard TD to Daniels. So 2/2 on deep balls....maybe we could take advantage of that? Maybe?

I hope thats what we see Sun. with Dayne and Gato. Ball control pound the rock running and quick strike long ball because Wash. safetys are moving up to help the run.

I think we will see more deep passes this week than we did in the last two. I don't think Kenny Wright and Carlos Rogers can go 1 on 1 with Moulds and Johnson. Maybe Rogers can slow down Moulds maybe, but AJ will have to be double teamed. If they go 1 on 1 with AJ, we should go deep. If they double hime like they should, we finally have some TE's that can make them pay for it.

i'm not even as concerned about deep passes as i am simply getting our WR's more into the game. we've got probowlers on each side compared to a rookie TE and less than perfect backs. i dont care if it's a 50 yard bomb or a 4 yard slant, i want to see dre & moulds with the ball a LOT more often. if you watch pittsburgh's postseason last year, a running team used the passing game to counter the defenses against them, and hines ward was the main part of achieving that. if teams are going to stack the box and make carr beat them, well hell, lets unleash him right off the bat to force their hand and adjust their gameplan. pass to open up the run.

I agree. Kubiak wants to run the ball--that's a given--but he's going to have to be creative about it--lining up and running on almost every 1st and 2nd down has not worked. Capers spent 4 yrs trying to do this...

IMO, for us to be successful at running the ball, teams have to respect our passing game. Now, in our 5th yr, no team has or does...It baffles me that Kubiak's approach is to take 'any' RB off the street- run them behind an inexperienced 'make shift' OL--and get results. Of course, so far, that has not worked but I guess we'll keep on doing it until we move that:brickwall ...or the season ends. We just aren't 'South Denver,' yet.

No this isn't the be all and end all, but just for a little perspective. Both AJ and Eric Moulds have more yards than Chad Johnson and both have longer completions than his highest at 18 yds. Oh and in terms of receptions, 10 AJ, 10 Eric and 11 CJ. We'd all like to see the passing game open up more and take more shots down field--let's just keep in mind the playing field.
