I looked at the NFL stats to see where our team is on the board. I noticed Philly and Indy are #1 and 2 on the total offense respectively.

We are 23rd.

In defense Philly is 20 and Indy is 25.

We are last.

Something interesting is the NYG who is the other team to play Philly and Indy is 3rd in total offense. They are also 28th in defense.

A team that has two big name defensive players Lavar Arrington and Michael Strahan is 4th from being the worst defensive team. They have a rookie playing at DT.

We had 2 rookies, and Dunta and Weaver as possibly being big name players.

In offense, they have no rookies on their line and no patchwork going on. And a Manning offspring at QB.

The reason why Philly and Indy have low defensive rankings is because that NY has an offense that is moderately high powered and growing stronger.

These stats can show our offense could could have been better, but we dont have a line like NY or a running back like Amani Toomer to be a constant threat.

These stats can show our defense was torn apart by the offensive juggernauts of Indy and Philly, just like a powerful team like NY was.

Is NY's defense better than 28th? Yes. Definately.
Is our defense better than last? Yes. Definately.

Do stats always show a clear and accurate representation? Not always, but there are some similarities that shouldnt be immediately be pushed away because of stats.

These stats show our defense and offense havent played to thier potential, and can possibly be better against a team like the Washups and Miami. I look forward to our team exploding in one of those games and get a W. So, lets get rid of the negativity, start rallying around the team once again, and expect something great to happen this Sunday.

Kubiak is going to be a great HC, Mario isnt a bust, and Carr is showing progress. Our offense is going to get over the injuries and some patchwork. The Defense is going to explode. Soon. We arent going to change overnight into a SuperBowl team, but we need to get ready for the great things about to come together.

Keep the faith, cause come Sunday, we are going to be hitting(players) like the Big Puma(Berkman) does against the Cards(Evil Do-ers).

Amani Toomer is a WR, for the record.

Our offense has shown signs of progress and have looked very good at times. I think everyone expected the offense to be the better of the two units with Kubiak coming in, which is why it made sense for Kubiak to spend high draft picks on defense. However, I doubt anyone thought we would be this pathetic on defense (well, before Faggins and Buchanon went down, anyway). I think our offense will continue to improve and will probably come together and start playing pretty consistently by the second half of the season. That won't matter unless the defense does the same, IMO.

Default oops

Sorry, written quickley going back and forth between websites and at work.

Tiki Barber is the RB.

I got the impression that our first pick was, well that debate is another thread, but demeco was second because he was a steal at that point. With those picks, and Weaver in the offseason, that our defense was going to be better as it has been in the past. The offense was going to be the big question mark because of Carr's development and the o-line.

Which is what makes him so dangerous.

And there are differences that need to be considered.

Did you watch the second half of the Giants/Eagles game and see the Giants Defense rise to the occasion, stopping the Eagles on their last six drives? (while Eli and Co. came alive on the other side)

Down 24-7 in the third quarter at Philly, would the Texans have buckled their chin straps a little tighter and said 'enough's enough -- let's kick some ass?' Or would they have mailed it in?

The Giants D showed me a lot, fighting and getting tougher as a group as the game wore on ... and ultimately winning in the end - in enemy territory.

Stats aside, I haven't seen that from the Texans yet. On either side of the ball. It seems to be missing......still.

IMO, the "IT" that is missing is confidence in being able to do it. Once they get behind, they seem to deflate and look like they are expecting to lose.
