In this mornings Chronic: Texans Summary
"If center Mike Flanagan is unable to play against Washington, he will be replaced by Drew Hodgdon, who is playing in his second season." This to me makes much more sense than moving McKinney and inserting Weary in McKinneys spot. Hodgdon ain't a rookie anymore. He is either your backup center or he isn't. If he can't do the job then you need another backup center. Moving players around the O line was Pendrys way of doing things and it just doesn't work. That just fouls up two positions. In the article Kubiak states: "He (Hodgdon) has to step in if he's called on. It helps us keep our rotation at guard." To me this is what seperates this coaching staff from the previous one. Kind of refreshing to have a coach that understands this.

Half way there- when McKinney is cut I'll believe Kubiak is fully committed to having the best roster possible.

I agree about starting him if you are going to give him a roster spot. If he can't play then they didn't do a good job this preseason finding a back up center.

I was way against McKinney in 2004 but IMO his play stepped up significantly in 2005, particularly when he was playing guard.

When I read that this morning, it made my day! I'm happy to see the boy get another chance. Ya never know what talent you have in a player if he's not given the chance to prove his worth. Drew is a great guy, works hard, has a fantastic attitude, and deserves this opportunity. The rest is up to him! JMO!

I think Hodgdon did very well last season, before he got hurt. Flanagan is good, but I believe Drew can be just as good....if given time to show it.
NO WAY should McKinney be C, not only is he not effective...there is no reason to even contemplate putting him back there, that is why we have Hodgdon. "give Drew a chance......" My second Adopted Texan (when I am told thats OK) |
