The difference between the best NFL teams and the worst NFL teams, despite the salary cap, has gotten insane. The best teams are on completely different levels from the worst teams. Its starting to look like baseball!
And the worst part? The draft system doesn't appear to be working. Too many 1st round early picks are turning into busts that eat up insane amounts of cap room, making it impossible for bad teams to ever improve. Except for the few franchises that have come out of the cellar (Cincinatti), it seems like it takes 5+ years to go from a losing franchise into a perennial contender. And even then, iti takes a lot of good luck, drafting skill, and talent development to do it. Look at the scores between the good teams and the bad teams today, and you'll see what I mean. We never had a chance today in Indy. The game was no where near as close as thes core would indicate.

Those are both great teams though. I'm talking about how the Browns, Texans, Raiders, Titans are all awful this year, and really have no chance at beating any of the elite teams

I'm really not sure what to tell you, gtexan.
You just mentioned that the Giants are a great team. Yet 3 years ago they were 4-12. It wasn't too long ago that the Colts were the doormat for every team in the NFL. You've already used the Bengals as an example. What do the teams you've used (Browns, Texans, Raiders) as an example have in common? They haven't drafted well. It's not the system because there are just as many examples of how it can work. You just have to have the right personnel office. The Texans unloaded their version of one that didn't work. It remains to be seen if the new one will. But it will take time. |

the raiders were in the superbowl in 2002? Everyone knew with all that old talent it would take a while to rebuild. The Titans were awesome up until the year after mcnair was mvp. Browns made playoffs a few years back.
I disagree how you think teams are stuck at being bad etc., I mean people expect one pick of a college player to completely turn a team around... way too much pressure is put on these 1st round draft picks, and they are judged in their first year almost always. |
