I know everyone is whining and crying about yesterday's lost.
Here is why I think things were positive even in the loss.... David Carr's completion % was well over 60. The offense showed the ability to throw the ball DOWN the field for the big play. AJ looked like the MAN again. Moulds looked like he was definitely worth the trade. Demeco Ryans is probably more than any of us hoped for and he proved it. I think some of us are forgetting that we have a very YOUNG defense and a lot of what happen yesterday is a lack of chemistry especially that 2 min drive to end the half. We're only 1 game out of first place.

Plus it was the first time in a while that Carr's passer rating was over 100.

new management, new coaches, new players, new offense, new blocking scheme, new defense...a reasonable time for all to start coming together...after 8 regular season games.
Played well for a half against a team that has won 4 out of the last 5 NFC Championship games and went to the Super Bowl 2 years ago. Philly has had one of the NFL's best defense over the last 5 years. Things are not as bad as many say or would have you believe. Texans may start 0-6 but real of judgement of this team and it's future won't begin until week 9. |

I think one thing to remember is; despite our horrid play we were in the game until the fourh quater...If the offense would have scored on their last drive we could have tried an on-side kick...They beat us pretty bad, but they didn't just completely dominate us...

Ryans was the highlight of the game. Carr had a solid performance, which is a change for him. He was definitely not the culprit yesterday. The was we couldn't pass block, run block, or rush the passer.
I'd like to see Mario put in one position (either LDE or RDE) and let him focus there for a while before you start moving him around. His head is probably swimming with information right now. Guys like him need to play instinctively. Don't get me wrong, I have said on several occasions that I preferred Bush to Williams, but at this point that isn't an option.

Any reasonable person would tell you that it is nothing short of foolish to expect a win from a team who went 2-14 last season with new coaches and a new system playing a team 2 years removed from the Super Bowl.
With that being said I was very suprised with what I saw yesterday. I was very disappointed with the pressure we had on McNabb. I was expecting to see a top 5 DL for us this season. DeMeco looked great as did Dunta. I think it would be more adventageous having Mario on the inside on runs and outside on passes if we are going to move him around. I don't understand the logic of having it the other way around. On the other side of the ball I was very impressed. After supporting Carr through the offseason I began to question myself after his showing this preseason. Yesterday's game tempered those worries immensely. He did what Kubiak said he wanted to see from him, nothing big just merely manage the game. The running game was nonexistant but I am inclined to give Philly's line credit more than put blame on us. Also, we still managed a relatively efficient passing attack despite the lack of the running game and blocking. This is this team's first opportunity to look at a game on film against a viable opponent and learn from it. We will endure a rough stretch at the beginning of the season but I think that will only help to build this team as the last half of the season seems pretty downhill. I stand by my prediction. Look for a strong finish to a 6 win season. |

Comparing Carr's first game with Kubiak to Plummer's without him at least gives me a glimmer of optimism. Hopefully, its indicative of things to come and proof that we got the real offensive mind from Denver.

I'm not sure but the Eagles may have taken the advantage of our rookie left tackle.
I was expecting Carr to get blasted but the did pretty good for the most part. Morency had a weak block on Kearse. |

what i was able to draw from yesterdays game was that david carr is definitely imrpoving. i was extremely pleased with the progress he showed from preseason to yesterday. carr looked poise in the pocket. he wasnt dancing around with happy feet. he stayed in the pocket, stepped up, made solid throws down the field. overall, his performance was good, not great. he still made a bad throw or 2 into coverage and put his RBs in a tough spot on screens. i can definitely see some promise in him. on the defensive side, i was extremely dissapointed. mcnabb could have played the whole game in a wheelchair. the front 4 got zero pressure on mcnabb. mcnabb's jersey was about as clean as it was when he first put it on pregame. the only hit i saw him take was when babin plowed him down. other than that, he was untouched. the corners' job was much tougher because mcnabb was given enough time to allow the routes to develop. however, i will say that i was very impressed with the philly WR core. they run an offense that doesnt need to rely on 3 or more good recievers. they utilize westbrook and lj smith so well, and that makes it easier for reggie brown and donte stallworth, both of whom played very well. im not at all dissapointed that we lost this game. i kinda had the feeling we would. philly looked like the NFC east winner, and the cowboys didnt. philly, imho, ought to win 12 games if they continue to play the way they did on the offensive side of the ball. back on our defense, i wasnt impressed by anyone in particular except demeco and MAYBE dunta. thats about it. mario played like a rookie. im not worried however. it took a while to break in yao ming, but look at him now...

lot of good for sure, even though there was some bad. running game was horrible, carr looked great along with both our recievers. the tight ends were only average at my assesment, and demeco was awesome 12 tackles and 1 assist to lead the whole defence can you say rookie of the year. mario needs to do something he has had nothing but horrible games every outing pre season and the first game. and we need to get more presure on the qb. all in all i think the fact that we went down a scored on the first drive was a huge gain compared to the offense of old, and if we can just keep it going into the second half we will get better. we have a ways to go but looks like we are heading on the right track.
