What does everyone think about this weekend, as a texans fan i hate to admit it but i think that the eagles are just too strong
Offense-McNabb and Stallworth will be explosive i think, we may be able to contain Westbrook. Defense-The Eagles D-Line is going to be huge this year, our O-Line just cant hold up...our only hope is that their lb's suck as bad as they seem, other than Trotter. Unfortunitly i see a 28-10 loss, but we bounce back and have a huge season. Love. TexasPete.

Cheer UP!!! We are capable of beating them!
Whether we do or not is part of the fun of the game. If Carr doesn't suck, we can beat them.

I believe a Texans win is within the realm of possibility. I don't think any Texans fan should be worrying about how strong the Eagles are right now. In three more days Sunday will be here and we'll get to see exactly what we have in the 2006 Texans. So far I haven't seen anything this preseason that would lead me to believe they are anything other than "greatly improved".
The Eagles are a better team than their record last year showed but so are we.

We have no idea what we really have in the Texans this year. Our limited look during the pre-season allowed us to see that we have a better pass rush, and a D that is getting better. We also have a starting QB who has yet to establish that he's an upper echelon starter. Our running game has looked really good and our pass protection and offensive playcalling/execution has been light years better.
I think Philly definitely has the edge in terms of confidence, talent, and experience at this point but the homer factor in me is saying that this is a home game and if Carr can somehow muster a good performance we have a real chance to win this one. |

Any given Sunday folks. Any given Sunday. Yes, the Eagles will be a strong team but they have 25 new young guys on that team and a lot of positions were switched around. It will be a hard fought game that is for sure. Good luck this weekend and GO EAGLES!

Here's in article from PFW that says they won't be surprised if the Texans pull an upset... http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW...ning090606.htm
Atleast some people in the....quasi-media are giving us a chance. |

At least he half way knew what he was talking about. Which means he will most likely never make it into the national media. If Mario, and DeMeco don't wilt under the bright lights I think we could have a game on our hands. Go Texans!

I've mentioned this in a few other threads, but I see one real way your offense can score points on us.
You need to attack our OLBs, and do so head on. We have a really small but quick guy (McCoy) whos only 22 and in his first year starting at WLB. If I'm Kubs, I'm thinking of ways to get him engulfed by OLineman. Frankly, the less you pass the better. Our defense is going to be insane against the pass this year. Top to bottom we might have the best DL in the NFL, and our secondary IS the best in the NFL. With the Texans young, inexperienced, and reworked OL I wouldn't let Carr do anything but 3 step drops. Historically the Eagles play very poorly in season openers on the road, but I still think our talent is just a clear cut above the Texans at this point. I'd give you all a 20% chance at winning. Frankly though, I see a 13 point or so Eagles win. |

Our receivers will go after the ball this year, not like last year. They will fight for possession - and Moulds - will win most of the fights he's in. Moulds is probably the most underrated possession receiver on this ball club. Our TE attack is infinitely better than last year. Again, don't look at last year's receivers and try to equate what you can do defensively against this year's receiver core. If we have a healthy O-line this year, you are going to be surprised. The difference is Sherman, an excellent O-line coach, vs well whatever you want to call was coaching our O-line the last several years. The biggest upgrade on this team was the coaching staff. Its a night and day difference when compared to last year. May the best team win. |

Like I said, we have the best secondary in the NFL. Brown or Sheppard can single up on Moulds. Dawkins and Lewis patrol the middle and will help on Johnson. The real problem though is at the line. I'm sorry, but I just can't see an OL with new starters at every single position and a rookie LT going up against Howard giving Carr enough time to throw. I could be wrong, but in general OLs need cohesiveness and experience. The Texans have neither at this point. I honestly think if you guy are going to win, you ned to run the ball at our OLBs. Do that, eat up the clock, keep our defense tired and yours rested, and keep our offense off the field. That's how you win. Can the Texans do it? Sure. Will they? I would wager against them. |

![]() ok bad joke OL is an area that I will wonder about. The OL did well in preseason, but again that is vanilla offense versus vanilla defense.. I have hope due to Sherman probably has forgotten more about the ZBS than what our previous coaching staff knew

I am interested to see if the ZBS can be implemented this quickly. Obviously you guys ran it last year, and had decent results in the run game.
I want to see what kind of improvement there is from week 1 to week 17. |

Douglas is old and he's garbage now, thats why the saints let him go. Yes, i know that they have two young DE but still, he couldnt have been a starter. Yes, the eagles have a very good DL but with the new system Coach K has installed, its gonna be very hard to get to Carr. I would be very surprised if the eagles came away with 2 sacks at the end of the game. Last year's OL coach couldnt even spell OL much less coach it, thats why we were as bad as we were. This year with the new ZBS, its gonna be a whole new ball game boyz.

I see a lot of Texans fans thinking you're going to be a Broncos clone this year. If it's going to happen, then it surely won't be in the first game of the season. Exuberance will lift your team for a little bit, but once the game settles down, the Eagles' obvious advantage of experience and knowledge of their own system will overcome that. Not to mention the level of PROVEN talent on the Eagles is vastly superior to the Texans. This game shouldn't even be close. It isn't arrogance and it isn't hyperbole. Capers and Co. turned your team into a disaster, it'll take more than one offseason to fix the faulty foundation before you can build on it. |

One thing I do have to agree with, is that, if we are going to actually beat the Eagles, we're going to have to establish a running game. We're not going to beat too many teams without it anyway in the ZBS and it's the right thing to start off with against the Eagles this year anyway, most likely.

Although many hear want to prepare for the worse it is understandable but I am going to be optmistic.
Heck 4 years ago we weren't even supposed to be on the same field with these guys and we took them into the 4th quarter where really only a fake punt helped them win. Don't write off our defense either. If our defense plays well, we can win this thing. |
