It seems slowly the old texans players are fading away and the new players emerge with the new coach as well. How many of the old texans are left besides David Carr, Dominique Davis, and Kris Brown?

There are a few, but not too many stars...
David Carr Kris Brown Chad Stanley Kailee Wong Steve McKinney Chester Pitts Fred Weary DeMarcus Faggins Jason Simmons Troy Evans Seth Payne Other than special teamers, Carr, Pitts, and McKinney are the only starters. |

I am glad the Texans are shaking it up. And I think we will see results over last year from it. We are a big market city and we need to start running with the big market teams.

I like what the team has done with the new players...Yes we did not do anything for our secondary...but if Mario Williams does what he is capable of doing..then that alone will be huge for the secondary...Mario Williams could be the answer to our defense...a freak pass rusher that was needed years ago...also with Babin and Peek back at DE..we could be scary on defense...with 2 guys pass rushing at the same time...while weaver can be our run stopping DT

That amount of turnover (11 players remaining after 4 years) isn't all that unusual. The key is once you have a successful core to build around, you keep it intact. It's a salary cap world and we're living it.
The Colts have 12 players remaining from their 2002 opening day roster. Five are starters on offense (3 on the o-line) which gives them the continuity needed to have success over the past four seasons: Tarik Glenn Jeff Saturday Ryan Diem Marvin Harrison Peyton Manning They have no starters on defense today that were starting opening week in '02. Rob Morris is the only one still around and he's a backup. This is a function of Dungy coming in and revamping what was a terrible defensive unit that he inherited from you know who. The rest were backups at the time: Nick Harper, Raheem Brock, Reggie Wayne, James Mungro, and Dwight Freeney (rook didn't start the first game but he was quickly elevated). Hunter Smith was and still is the punter. |
