Default I dont think you will see DD fumble next week!

The reason? Because he knows that hollings will be replacing him if he does. I think this will be enought pressure to keep him from fumbling the ball at least for the next 3 games. I hope so

I would think that being the cause of one loss would be enough motivation. If causing two losses isn't enough motivation he has a more serious problem than fumbling the ball.

i think he should be benched no matter what next week, because i think even if tony hollings diddnt get that many yards it would be better than 14 points every week from DD fumbling, plus the chiefs run defense isnt very good. I say bench him for at lest one game then we see what Hollings can do.

I wouldn't put it all on DD.
I see no reason to think that we will look any different next week ..
why? same players not playing and same coaches not coaching.
What's gonna change? They are in a RUT until someone comes up with a plan to utilize the talent on the team and enforce and make changes. After all, they've been in this lukewarm state since Pittsburgh.

Not only did he fumble twice, but he was the cause of Carr's interception. Instead of settling down in the spot Carr was throwing to, Davis for some reason decided to vacate that spot and move to a place that was blocked from Carr. Carr threw just as Davis moved.

the Texans offense revolves around DD for a reason, he is the #1 option, and you want to bench him

The difference I see between Hollings and DD is the way the two responded after they had a two fumble game. Hollings had a 2 fumble game and didnt fumble for the next 4 weeks (3 preseason game and 1 reg. season game). Davis had a two fumble game and then came out and had another 2 fumble game...

That is because Carr relies on Davis too much. Carr has a clock in his head that says "1 second has gone by, lets dump it to Davis now." The offense would open up if you took Davis out, IMO...

Isn't the knock on Hollings that he fumbles too much?

Have you noticed that almost all Davis' turnovers have been TDs for the opposition. Good RB yes, but he's killing the team. Better suck it up NOW or he sits beside S. Mack in the "I can't cut it" section

Only two of his fumbles have gone back for scores, the worst thing is that the fumbles dont allow us to score...

I guess the answer to that is no. Still I ask the question: Isn't the knock on hollings that he fumbles? I think it is, though I don't know much about him.

Sorry, I thought it was a sarcastic question

Even though I love Hollings, I would have to say 'yes'. But I think the reason he has a fumbling problem is because he only played 4 games at the RB position in college unlike Davis who has played his entire life at RB, so I think that Hollings' is correctable because all he needs is experience...

DD has 4 fumbles. 2 vs SD went for 2 TD's and 1 today was a TD, and the other was a missed FG. Of course it wouldn't be so bad if the defense could stop somebody.

Can we at least get our facts straight!? 1 of his fumbles vs SD went for a TD, a 45 yard drive. Today's led to a 79 yard drive for a td. SOME of this onus has to fall onto the defense. I mean it's like Portis' fumbles (3) which all have led to TDs and all were with the oppositions 20. I guess the Skins should bench him though.

Default Fumbles

4 fumbles in 2 games means he shouldn't have played at all in this one, much less the next one. There are coaches that will sit your butt down, for the rest of that one game anyway, for fumbling just one time, and THEY DON'T HAVE PLAYERS THAT FUMBLE. That's the way it works. They don't care if you're Walter Payton, or whoever. You don't fumble the ball, if you wanna play. Furthermore, those kinds of coaches tend to find that one RB runs for 1000+ yds. one year, and while he's a fumble machine the next, some other RB on the same team runs for 1000+ yds. Give the O-line some of that credit. They CAN prove it belongs to them.

I don't care if Hollings does fumble it, when he gets a chance. So what. Give it to Wells. If he fumbles it, for crying out lould, give it back to Davis. Somebody has to step up and play like they want to be a starter.

Oh, and I don't care what the results of Davis's fumbles were, either. 4 fumbles in 2 games is inexcusable. It could have been 4 touchdowns or 4 punts against us. What their offense does with it is on them and our defense--not on Davis. He already messed up when he gave them the chance and took away ours.

I know that Eddie George didn't fumble, but for other reasons he was traded away by Tennessee. A lot of us thought that was it--they wouldn't have a running game anymore. SURPISE! This new guy they've got is making what Eddie George did (LATELY) look like childs play. They've got the O-line that he needs and he's just loving it and ripping right past the opponents defenses. I'm not a big guy and I've always rooted more for the skills players, but let's be realistic--on both sides of the ball, it's those lineman that really matter (sure wish we had 4 of them on defense). Give the ball to Hollings.

I have heard that DD was known for a great career at LSU but was known for fumbling the ball.

Ok well:

1) 4 fumbles in 2 games IS inexcusable HOWEVER:

-We have to understand that Davis averaged a full 1.5 yards per carry MORE than ANY other back who ran behind this line last. Be it, Mack, Hollings, or Wells! Same line, different players, different results. No one broke 3 yards per carry!

-That being said, it depends how you regard Domanick. If you see that his talent is exceptional compared to the other backs, than you will take the lumps of 2 grossly awful fumbling performances.

-Compare it to Clinton Portis, he has fumbled a MERE three times in 2 games. Losing all of them, two of which the opposition ran in while the other led to a short drive to score. Do you expect Gibbs to bench him?

-My main contention is simply that DD's talent is so much more than the others that the fumbles need more than one game to be curtailed. Plain and simple.

-Perhaps, simply a do or die fumble mentality where if he puts it on the grounds he's gone. I feel he deserves one more opportunity. Especially against a KC team that he should rip up.

-One thing can not be disputed and that is he has the most all purpose yards this side of Curtis Martin, it has to count for something.

Clinton Portis should sit down. One thing though: I'm not saying that fumbling is the only way to get put on the bench. If you prove unable to gain yardage, or at least enough to get the job done, then it's somebody else's turn. I'm not saying that we should let Wells take the ball and run for 1 yd. per carry for the rest of the season, just because he didn't fumble. I know that the skills player does SOMETIMES make a big difference, but I really think that can also change from one year to the next, with some players. I say give Hollings the ball, but I'm not saying that it's a permanent change. See what he can do for one game. See what Wells can do for one game--now, not back when--if Hollings isn't real impressive. Let all 3 of them know that the first one to kick some rear, and keep doing it, will probably continue playing. That's what I'm saying. Davis might still wind up back in there again, but he just might learn a valuable lesson, also.
