This just in:
NEW YORK (AP) -- Former Houston Texans general manager Charley Casserly joined CBS Sports as an "insider" on the network's pregame NFL show. Casserly resigned as general manager in the spring after the draft. He was the team's GM for its first four years and also spent 12 years as GM of the Redskins. He has 24 years of NFL experience, most with Washington. He was a candidate to become the NFL's vice president of football operations. The job opened when Art Shell left to coach the Oakland Raiders. The opening was filled last week by Ray Anderson, a former agent and Atlanta front office executive. (Copyright 2006 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APTV-08-14-06 1357CDT |

That is a perfect job for Casserley. He can talk about football all day long on Sunday, but he won't actually get his hands on anything he can mess up.

Hopefully he'll be a better insider for football than Steve Phillips is for baseball on ESPN. Both were terrible GM's though so how much "insight" can he give?

Here's a quote I came across.......you might remember it. CC would make a great commentator, ever-pointing out "astute" observations AND suggesting constructive solutions.

So how many sinking ships can Casserly be directly or indriectly be involved with? For example, Boseli.... Perhaps, its not so much with players but coaching staff. Is that where Casserly blows? Obviously injuries and what nots are not his fault. But is it like car insurance? For instance, my girlfriend is not involved in many at fault accidents but she seems to be in alot of accidents not caused by her? Can the same be said about Casserly and his involvement with NFL teams? Is Casserly accident prone even though we can't directly blame him?
Also, just how many blunders can we thumb at Casserly, just for kicks, I will start with Boseli and Dom Capers.... |
