This offseason has been so good that our defensive backfield has gone from this team's biggest strength (IMO) to probably it's weakest link. None of the personnell have changed. I don't think our secondary is terrible. So, that to me says a whole lot about just how good a job the Texans did this offseason.
On paper, this looks like the most improved team in football. Granted that isn't hard to do as bad as they were last year, but Bob McNair, Kubiak and company have managed to get me all pumped up about football and it is only May! I can't wait to get my season ticket package in the mail. I hope we get something other than a pen and leather binder this year. Perhaps a banner, hat, or t-shirt this time around.

Man, I love my binder.
Anyways, I think it is time for everyone to start praying that for once, injuries remove themselves from our team. |

I think our backfield is average. I think would could improve at the FS position and Earl has a hard time staying healthy at the SS position.
Obviously, Dunta is a top 5 DB in the league. I think we can get more out of Buchanon. If we scheme our coverage to take advantage of his strengths and not weaknesses, he could be a legit second corner. This would also allow Faggins to move the the third CB position where he would then become above average. We could use some more depth.

Every time I look at who we have at DB the more satisfied I become. I think Buchanon will step up and be a solid or above average #2 and Faggins will be a very solid #3 for us.

Yeah your right in that you get well known by making plays, but most QB's have been going to the other side of the field and away from Robinson making it hard for him to make plays, now if we have more of a legit #2 CB, then he will be forced to defend the ball more and will show you just how good he is

well think about it we had no effective pass rushers and the other teams qb kept hitting 2 either buchanna or faggins and yet DR still made plays
and now thanks to FA and the draft our Dline has improved majorly and will able to put way more pressure on the QB whch will result in our DB bein better.

I would say that linebackers are currently our worst position. Little to no depth at MLB, a rookie and Orr at strongside and Greenwood/Wong (minus the knee ligaments) at weakside linebacker. The secondery is below average but very young and fast. Hopefully, like the rest of the team, they will get better as the season goes on.

Does anybody know if Aaron Glenn is still a cowboy? I would'nt mind bringing him back as a nickel corner.
Maybe he can get into P-Buc's head and teach him how to be real pro.

Our DBs were pretty good last year without a pass rush. Now we are going to have a pass rush which will make the DBs even better. We should be able to get off the field on 3rd downs now and that puts the ball back into the offenses hands. I like our offense with Carr, DD (and all of the other backs), AJ and Moulds, the improved O-Line and a host of TEs.
We will not be a threat to win the Super Bowl but I think if everything goes well we could be knocking on the door of the playoffs. |

Our DBs were lousy last year. Other offenses avoided D Rob and threw directly at Buchanan. Yes we had no pass rush so average DB would get beat with double moves. Buchanan got beat from the line of scrimmage. He gives too much cushion and cannot close or tackle. Buchanan may be a good Nickle Back where he can gamble, have help, and make plays, but I pray he does not start.

The biggest falsehood I see when the secondary is discussed it this:
"Yeah, we couldn't get pressure on the QB, but . . . Isn't that like saying, "Yeah, the OL couldn't protect Carr, but . . . There are no "buts". If the front 7, which has been dramatically addressed this offseason, even more than some of you liked, can do something that they have never consistantly done in their 5 year existance . . . actually put pressure on the opposing QB . . . . . . you will see just how good our secondary is. |
