A source close to Harrington said Thursday night the Dolphins and Detroit Lions have worked out a deal to send the former No. 3 overall draft pick to Miami.

Harrington was scheduled to participate in a charity event next week but had to cancel because he will have to be in Miami to take part in the opening of organized training activity.

That activity essentially is team practices that lead to a three-day minicamp for all players June 9-11. The Dolphins want to have Harrington with the team now so he can learn the offense.

I am thinking maybe "I" should head down there for training camp too.

Get little Vick to ride shotgun, Culpepper to score some ladies, Ricky can bring some snacks, and Joe Harrington can keep us all entertained with Matt Millen stories. It's going to be awesome! Just like Fred says, a gay old time.

harrington will no doubt do better in miami than in detroit. MUCH better coaches, much better players around him, much better environment, not nearly as much pressure, etc. he'll get just about all the snaps in training camp, and if culpepper isn't ready, harrington will be fine. of course, since culpepper is going to be ready by training camp, that may not be necessary. either way, win-win situation. if he can have a good game or two, he can make great trade bait next year.

Reject collection is just empty blabbering. The Raiders and New England both built Super Bowl teams on rejects. ( the Raiders more so then the Patriots )

If the Jets and Bills are kept low on the totem pole, I think there is a VERY good chance that Harrington could strike in at least one play off game. That will make for a deft QB controversy in Miami.

nah. harrington is a backup, culpepper is the starter. they both know this. harrington wanted to come to miami badly, so he knows his role.

Your tune would change too, IF he is winning. All the reports are saying Culpepper is looking good, but then why up the ante to give the Lions a 5th rounder and or some other player IF you really thought Culpepper was going to be a solid starter. ( when you could just wait it out until June and save a buck or two.

How is he going to do better sitting on the bench than starting every single game of the season? Sure, he might become a better player, but he's barely going to be inside the huddle. I will say though that he is better off in Miami this year than he would be in Detriot.

They lost Sage Rosenfels to free agency this year. They need a solid #2 to push Dante Culpepper

eheh. I don't like the sound of that ( errr the look of that ). That would mean Sage is not good enough to keep around to push Culpepper. Although it's not like we are paying him in foodstamps either.

Looks like the official word is some undisclosed conditional pick to the Lions for Harrington. Hmmm... wonder what that really means.

Man I hope he is starting come the 4th week. I soOoo want a rematch from 2004. I still catch grief from that game.

no bledsoe/brady comparisons at all. bledsoe was very supportive of brady the entire time he was injured, and when he returned to health. if harrington plays like the best QB in the league, then obviously you don't take him out. but he was brought in to be a backup, because that's what he is.

miami sent a 6th rounder, which could turn into a 5th if he does well. not sure what the stipulations are, but that's all i know. saban won't wait till june to bring in a player after the practices, limiting his exposure to the playbook and coaching. the trade had to be made.

The Harrington trade give us value on Carr if has another terrible year, maybe we can get a 6th rounder in a trade? That's just aweful. Maybe you just keep Carr and hope for the best. :brickwall :brickwall :brickwall We have already done that going on five years.

What is more of a gamble, not drafting Reggie Bush or keeping David Carr?

That may be the draft mistake the pundits talk about this time next year.

Imagine how much better Carr would have been in Detroit. Bottem line is its allways a gameble now matter who you draft or keep, you never know whos going to get hurt. Look at Carson Palmer, he tore his acl into shreds in the first turn around season for the Bengals in a decade. What a shame, i dont think he will ever be the same.

Carr's problem has nothing to do with injuries, physical ability, or being on an expansion. Bottom line, Carr makes very bad decisions and rarely, if at all, making great decisions. He has one more year to fix that and I think he is going to have that problem where ever he goes if he doesn't get it going with the Texans.

Well, good for him. He got what he wanted. But so did Mariucci and his staff ... only too late to save them.

Mariucci had been on Harrington's case from the beginning of his tenure, insistent the quarterback couldn't push the Lions over the top, but management had too much invested in the first-round draft pick.

So the Lions stuck with him. And he lost. And lost. And lost. In the end, he lost twice as many games (37) as he won (18), and while he certainly wasn't the cause of the Lions' woes, he contributed to them with lackluster play.

And that was Mariucci's point. There was nothing really special about Harrington; nothing that made you think you could move to the top of the division -- or go on to the playoffs -- with him.

AhhhHHHH!!!!! Man... this is going to be the longest offseason since the 90's!

SOoo many things to prove, in so many corners right now... I don't think I can remember a time when so many open questions and changes have sat around in the offseason. Normally you have a pretty good idea of how things are going to turn out ( even if they are all wrong ).
