I find it interesting that most of the media our calling the Texans stupid at the least. However, many of the fans here are licking their chops at this seasons prospects.
I think about midway through the season you are going to be hearing a lot of screaming from the media because no one has the Texans on their schedule. Then there will be media types that will say they knew all along that the TEXANS had made the right choice. Yea, right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

.. and then?

'cause the media likes to hype the negative - that's what sells. Even another poster noted they were interviewed at the draft party but because they weren't screaming hysterics about VY or Reggie but that he was fine with the picks, he wasn't aired.
Go figure. |

I think the Texans made a big mistake by not taking Reggie Bush but it does no good to complain.
The media is just going to report what they pick up on and most people were certain until just a few days ago that it was going to be Reggie. |

The only media guy that seems to really get what the Texans are doing is Mort. Interesting though is that I was reading the Denver Post this morning and their sports section (MUCH better than anything the Chronic puts out) reviewed the first round picks and on ours they gave a thumbs up and I quote "It was not the sexy pick, but it was the right pick for the Texans". So, a few in the media get it and as time goes by and some things come out in the news that I think are coming out, it will be pretty clear why we to Mario not to mention Mario is a great pick.

Those in the media and unhappy fans can say what they want, but one thing is for sure--through free agency and the draft and player evaluations on team members, the Texans have at least made an attempt to improve the team. The 'powers that be' determined what positions needed upgrading and have done so 'across the board.' Fans have complained about the poor pass protection, zero pass rush, need for 'effective' 2/3/4 receivers, opponent rush containment, among others and the team has concurred.
However, IMO, we have 2 other factors that will make a huge difference this season over the previous-- (1) HC Coaching Philosophy and (2) coaches that can effectively evaluate and teach...gone is Caper's 'coaching not to lose,' replaced by Kubiak's 'whatever it takes to win.' Too, we now have a coaching staff that will exploit a player's strength and put him in a position to excel, instead of expecting players to do things they've never done before---players will get individual attention as needed (ala Sherman working this off-season with Wand). IMO, Texans fans are in for a treat. I'm not saying we're going to the play-offs this year (hope we will), but I believe we will see a team that is exciting and does whatever it takes to win 'one game at a time.' And, personally, I look forward to post game comments that don't always blame the players for a 'lack of execution.' Bottom line, Kubiak has stood 'pat on nothing.'

Our team is in the position to be the "Cinderella Team" this year, Then the media will defect and try to be our best buddies... too bad we won't need them.

All I know is Bob McNair has some huge, shinney, brass who-haws.
NFL tells him it will be 700 million in franchise fees and his only response is "check or credit?" Lets his coach finish out a 2-14 season cus he doesnt find it constructive to fire someone in the middle of a season. Tell fans and sponcers no matter how much you kick and scream he was not going to draft the home town son. Looks Reggie Bush right in the eye, sees all the seats sold out, merchandise bought, global press, and tells him, we don't need you. Lets the Texans draft Mario Williams cus he knows, that is the kind of moves we need to make to win championships. Congrats to the FO. You didn't make the popular choices, you guys just made the right choices.
