I assume we want out of #1 and we want Mario or D'Brick. This makes sense to me and if it's what the Texans want, I applaud the FO.
Here's the problem. If we were to take Mario at #1, the Saints believe they can readily trade out of #2 for somebody who wants Bush. Why would somebody want Bush at #2 and not at #1? I mean, the money's big, but the benefits of Bush are big, too. I just don't get it. There out to be someone ready to jump to one unless Casserly and the FO insist on getting some kind of Ditka Deal, which everybody knows is not going to happen--people just aren't that stupid any more. Get a decent return and get out. If you can. For my money you can go as far down as 6 and still have max value for the team, plus two our three additional picks in a very deep 1st day draft. |

Well, we won't know much of anything about potential deals until a teams back is against the wall on draft day. (team that wants Bush)
I don't really care who they pick where, or for what, as long as it's a dominant player and we win some games next year.

But not taking a trade, unless we stay in the top 6 kinda hinders the dealings a little bit. This is a deep draft..... I'd take 2 firsts, a second and a third.... & I'd be willing to drop out of the top 10. Imagine getting Moroney/Addai, Winston Justice/Eric Winston, Manny Lawson, and a slew of talent late in the second, early in the third..... That may be a bit of an overload of rookies though.

I think we end up drafting bush and trading him. I think a lot of teams are anxious to see if we pass on him to make the jump up. If we grab bush a team like uh i dunno the jets might be like "CRAP" and then quickly fire up a trade to us ala phillip rivers/eli manning.

What amazes me is all the people who cried up and down during last season to tank the rest of our games so we can get Reggie Bush. Now we are getting what we asked for and don't want him? Man we better get that dude for that sorry excuse for a season that I sat through. |

Given where the top 5 teams are in the draft, I don't think it makes sense for any of them to trade up for #1. THe Jets have the picks to do it, but look at their division and their team... they need multiple 1st round picks the same way we do.
I like controlling our destiny with our pick. I would hate to be at #4 at then have a another trade trump us and we get left with someone that is a great player, but not necessarily someone that would be our first choice. Remember, we have 4 of the top 66 picks, that is a great place to start rebuilding... we should get some quality players that could play right away. THIS TEAM WILL TAKE TWO YEARS TO TURN AROUND. |

To be closed to that seems tunnel-visioned, short sighted. But maybe Bush really is all that (I'm already on record as thinking not). Basically, the Team has already done enough to earn a second look. If they come out and look like Capers II in the fall, well, all bets are off anyway. |
