Honestly what happened? Out of the blue some people only have him going to the Cardinals at pick 10. Did I miss something? Maybe he got a bad score on the Wonderlic test, nobody really knows, but that test means little compared to what you do on the field. That is the same test where Ryan Leaf scored 11 points more than Dan Marino, and those scores obviously did not reflect onto the field.
It is probably true that Vince Young will not be able to run the way he did at Texas in the pros, but then by what stretch of the imagination is Reggie Bush somehow unaffected by the 6'4" 260 linebackers that are hardly a step behind him? If anything Young would be a more successful runner than Bush, because with Bush always slashing around, and an NFL defense that is much quicker to react than a college defense, he is sure to be hit unexpectedly, and this being something he's never dealt with, he's an injury liability and he would have a high possibility of developing fumblitis. And suddenly Vince Young is only a running quarterback? I do believe he had a higher passer rating than Matt Leinart, and almost every other high name quarterback that competed in a full season and had somewhere around a 65% completion rating. He is blessed with mobility, which he uses to make his throwing situations more comfortable. He can escape the pocket if need be and after that he can make a 60 yard throw on a line with a flick of the wrist. Plus he's a smart kid when it comes to football and he knows he's not going to be running as much in the NFL. Not to mention he can be a team leader right out of the gates if he needs to, but the ideal situation would be for him to learn the system for a year and polish his technique. But the Rose Bowl was a clear indicator of his poise. It seems like people just have thrown that game out the window, discredited it completely. Why are people zoning in on Vince’s awkward throwing motion? I believe it was Machiavelli that said the end justifies the means, and who really cares how he does it as long as he puts the ball where it needs to be 65% of the time. Plus his arm motion works in perfectly with his playing style, so when he’s on the run he can sling it out there without having to set his feet and stop, and so far he has had much success with this. You don’t change a good thing, and his arm has never hurt him before. Also his arm, along with his legs, led a team that had considerably less talent than USC to a National Championship. Seems more like people are just looking for an excuse to knock Vince down because they couldn’t do it on the field. And what room is there for Reggie Bush in Houston anyways? What happened to Domanick Davis, a very talented runner that, with a team that had any sort of an O-line, could be even more effective. Plus he's only been pro for 4 years or so. Oh, well they could put Reggie Bush at flanker. Uhhh, they have Andre Johnson, a pro-bowl type Wide Receiver when he's got a passing game to be part of, also they just signed Eric Moulds and still have the capable Jabar Gaffney, so I think they have plenty of receivers. Well, Bush could be a great kick returner. They actually have one of those too, by the name of Jerome Mathis, who for lack of a better word, is greased lightning. Well you're probably thinking that maybe Bush could split carries with Davis. That could work out, but would you waste the first overall pick of a loaded draft on a 10 play-a-game player? Or would you invest it in a player who could single-handedly rejuvenate the franchise and would play more than 10 plays a game in time? Now I know they just signed Carr to a three-year deal, but keeping him is like writing your suicide note. O-line help isn't going to magically appear in one year so in the meantime you need a Quarterback who can operate somewhat effectively without an O-line. IMO Houston would be passing up a great opportunity if they draft Reggie Bush, which I fear they will. And it would be a great injustice for Young not to get to represent his hometown because there is an unexplained love affair with Reggie Bush's highlight reel. Not to mention the people of Houston would rather see Vince Young in the endzone than Reggie Bush fall short of it. After the Rose Bowl, people were putting Vince Young down as a lock to be the first overall pick. However only a few months after the game, people have come up with numerous and seemingly unsubstantial reasons why Vince Young couldn’t cut it in the pros. There's a great article by Michael Silver of Sports Illustrated on this subject that inspired me to write this much. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...ung/index.html |

Greetings pelo19, and welcome to the board....
There is absolutely no need to post such a long and endearing dialogue so near the upcoming draft -- for please believe me, although your intense/passionate rhetoric rings true -- the actual wording has been disseminated over and over so much, that we are all STEELBLUE in the face..... JUST TRUST IN YOUR HEART, AND KNOW -- THAT THE TEXANS ARE PREPARING AN ENDEARING, AND YET SOUND STRATEGY FOR THE AGES..... OUR NATIVE SON, VINCE YOUNG -- is indeed coming home great pal -- FOR THE CLOUDS ARE STARTING TO PART -- DRAFT DAY 2006 COMETH! MONARCH |

I wish VY the very best except for when he plays against us. Sometimes I think the board comes of a bit negative and harsh on VY. As a Houstonian and a long time fan of his I sincerely hope for the best with VY. Because wherever he goes, he's going to represent his hometown. But I just don't see him being drafted by the Texans and I'll leave it at that.
