Casserly ought to offer 4 % more than last years number one pick to Bush. If he dosent take it we can select Mario Williams. If Bush does not take the offer he will slide to #2 or more and he will lose even more money. Just a thought.

I think the #1 pick targets the same % increase as the salary cap went up that year.

I haven't checked the facts though; I could be wrong.

He is a Running Back last years #1 pick was a QB. QB's are way better paid therefore he should be getting less than Alex Smith got last year or else he is not value for money.

That is why there is an issue with signing him. He has priced himself out of the top spot for the mean time.

The Texans should try to trade the pick to somebody who wants Leinert and take Mario Williams. That way they'll actually get somebody they need.

Now that the Saints have signed Brees they could end up drafting Williams at the #2 spot. I say if we want Williams just take him #1, we still have 3 more first day picks.

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports it appears more and more likely the New York Jets will not draft a quarterback with their fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft. The Jets are giving serious consideration to taking a position player with their pick. Virginia OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson is an example of a player the Jets might draft for need and value.

If this is true I see only the Titans taking a QB in the top 5, so I think we just need to take who the front office wants at #1.

Usually teams engage in some sort of negotiation, not offer one price and then move to another player. Whatever the Texans set as the ceiling that they are willing to pay Bush, they will first offer a substantially lower price. So if the most they are willing to pay Bush is a 4% increase over what Alex Smith got, they will probably offer a 2% decrease to what he got.

If the reports coming out of NY are that the Jets don't want a QB...then they want a QB. Bein' realistic, Pennington's shoulder is hanging on by a thread, you have a chance to draft a 2 time champion (3X starter), and a Heisman trophy winner, who did even better (statistically) the following year. There is no way any team would pass on that for a tackle, I don't care if the guy is a Lincoln Kennedy clone. You can get another tackle (or running back), but you can't just dial up a QB with those kind of credentials...
