Jets | Team staying at No. 4?
Mon, 17 Apr 2006 06:04:07 -0700 Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports talk early in the offseason was that the New York Jets might be interested in trading up with either the Houston Texans at No. 1 or the New Orleans Saints at No. 2, but with two weeks until the NFL Draft, the word is that they are not looking to trade up. Don't know if this had been postef, like alot of you have had trouble getting on. |

it looks like we'll have to wait until the day of the draft to really know if there any blockbuster trades. alot will depend on contract negoiations between Bush and the Texans, if no deal is completed this may be a precursor to possible movement in respective war rooms.

I hope the Jets stay put. I'm hoping that the Saints draft at #2 and draft anything but a QB. Then hopefully, the Titans will draft Leinart. It would break my heart to see VY in that evil baby blue uni.

I could see the Jets wanting to move up for Leinart/Bush, but at the same time with the #4 and #29 picks they could land Mario Williams/Matt Leinart/Jay Cutler/Vince Young and then Nick Mangold or someone else of equal talent. I don't expect them to give up on the possibility of getting Mario/2nd best QB and Mangold and extra picks for one player.

I don't see the Jets moving up. They have too many holes and lost too many important players to give up multiple high draft picks for one player no matter who he is.

Jets have 10 picks this year, including 2-1sts, and 2-3rds. If there ever was a candidate to move up this year, it would be the Jets.
Here is the thing... The Jets will be in the Giants/Eli shadow until they bring in a prime time player. A QB could be that person, but so could Reggie with Martin's career winding down. Based on the draft point values, would you be open to the following trade: Houston Trades: 1st round - 1 overall (3,000 points) 3rd round - 66 overall (260 points) Jets trade: 1st round pick - 4 overall (1,800 points) 1st round pick - 29 overall (640 points) 2nd round pick - 35 overall (550 points) 3rd round pick - 71 overall (235 points) Jets take who they want, we get at worst D'Brick/Mario (assuming Tenn takes a QB), plus we don't pay top pick money... we get more pick depth. and more importantly, Jets still have: 1st round - 1 overall 3rd round - 66 overall 3rd round - 97 overall 4th round - 103 overall 4th round - 117 overall 5th round - 138 overall 6th round - 173 overall 7th round - 211 overall That leaves jets short, but I can't imagine giving up more than that if I were the Jets still needing some holes to fill. They signed Ramsey as QB, so ought to give him a shot with Reggie in the backfield. If they don't want to give up their 2nd rounder, then we take back our 3rd rounder and they can add on three late round picks. Reggie in NY SELLS SEASON TICKETS AND CREATES NATIONAL APPEAL! |

I would lean more toward both of their first rounders, their second rounder and a second round pick next year for our first...The points would be close to equal for this year, and we snag a nice second rounder next year. However, I am still not convinced I would give up Bush.
