Why is there no interest to trade up to #1 for Reggie?

I mean I'm just wondering since he's the greatest thing since slice bread why is it that aside from the jets(maybe) that nobody wants to trade up for him.

I like bush but I'm not sure I'm getting how moving out of the #1 slot he won't still be there if we trade back.

I'm sure we might be asking too much so we need to lower our price and move back.

We should be asking a lot; Bush is one of the highest rated prospects in years so we'd better get fair value if we decide to trade back. I think the reason teams aren't willing (we don't know for sure what kind of offers have been made, if any) is that they have a lot of holes to fill and don't want to give up any extra picks. We wouldn't want to trade past #4 imo.

Do you think Bush would click well with our team? I know this question is out of left field but I have been thinking about it all day.

I think he'd work well with us, keeping DD fresh, lining up in the slot, coming out of the backfield on screens... we could certainly find uses for him.

We really dont know if the Texans have received offers or not, really you never know until draft day about most of the trades. But there has been relatively little talk of people trying to trade up for arguably the best prospect ever. The price is probably too high.

Not only is the price through the roof, but no team is willing to pay that much for a player who doesn't really fill a need. If you "need" a running back, u can't dump that kind of money into a guy who can only carry it about 15X a game. He could be a #1 receiver apparently (best in the draft some say), but there's no way you can be for sure with his collegiate work alone, and any GM who felt they needed a PR/KR that badly would (rightfully) be blacklisted from the league.

It's ironic that the best college prospect in 15 years can be the player that everyone wants, but nobody needs, and therefore no logical "war room" justification exists for making the move up the draft line to scoop him.

It just seems like Bush isn't worth the price people want to pay. Look at it in this perspective. If you don't get the best running back prospect in years, you can still get the best Olineman in years (D'Brick), the best DE in years (Mario), or the most athletic TE in EVER (Vernon Davis). And no, we are not going to trade down so far as to not get one of these top-tier players.

For Reggie Bush, it seems like you would want at least their 1st rounder, another 1st rounder, and a 2nd. Not a price people will want to pay. I really don't see that happening. Looking at what I would lose by trading up, I wouldn't trade up if I was in their respective posistions either. Do you guys really believe that this '06 draft is really that good or media hype, because the amount of top-tier players in this draft is just ridiculous. I definitely could see a team wanting to trade up if this was a weak draft, but this draft is too good, and it sounds like teams are very satisfied with their standing right now. If the media isn't totally blowing this out of proportion, this unquestionably has to be the best NFL draft EVER.

It's one source. Remember the Texans off-season moves so far:

Mario Williams - Signing DE Anthony Weaver AND DE ND Kalu.
Any of the QBs - Taking Carr's Option AND QB Sage Rosenfels
Reggie Bush - NOT resigning RB Jonathon Wells (still a Free Agent, I think - he was a week ago for sure) AND NOT resigning Tony Hollings (not that we should have)

Also remember there was a KFFL story earlier today (or maybe yesterday) that Mario Williams was reluctant to talk negotiations with the Texans since someone in their group didn't think it a serious offer.

just to be objective about all this

1. Weaver is only of our starting ends, the other we still haven't figured out yet (most likely Babin....or at least hopefully....he needs to find something he can do worth a damn). Kalu was for depth considering we have really no DE's signed except for Weaver.

2. Carr was going to get signed to that extension no matter what. You don't just let your starting QB leave without a veteran coming in or a player that has been in the league for a while waiting to take over (ala Brees and Rivers). Even if we were dead set on Young we still would have exercised that option. Also if i'm correct you forgot to mention we don't have Banks anymore, so thats where Rosenfels comes in....decent backup.
3. Neither one of those running backs were signed because of the basic fact they weren't worth signing....thus Wells and Hollings still being a FA

Good Question texas_thrill or observation one of the reason other teams arent all over bush is the cost alot of teams in my opinion dont see paying

for a part time running back. some one who you hope to get the ball to 20 times again but not necceserly hand offs since this pro game is diferrent that college.

with all that said if we were to trade down to three with the titans we would still get bush at a cheaper price.

I agree with you. I think taking bush at #3 instead of#1 would make a lot more sense. I know the Titans want a QB (but quite frankly if they traded up and took bush i wouldn't be hurt.)

The saints have plenty of money tied up in Deuce and I think they take dbrick or williams.

So we are right back at the #3 spot with are choice of bush, williams, hawk, etc. and at a CHEAPER PRICE.

The talking heads are making two points that just don't make sense:

1.Reggie Bush is too special for us not to draft him- even though it's not a need area for us.

2.There is no market for the #1 pick. Teams aren't interested in paying with picks to move up and take a RB.


Both of these statements can't be true. Now, perhaps we covet him more than the rest of the league but that's not been the argument. I still say something will happen with a trade or we may just sit at #1 and take Mario Williams.
