if we trade down and that team happens to be one of the 5 worst teams in the NFL next year then its possible. hopefully the Texans wont be in position to draft that high if we dont trade down

If Carr ends up being a big bust this year as a few people are insisting will happen, then we could very well end up with a very high pick next year and we can look at Brady Quinn, however I don't think that will end up being the case.

Just a question. Were there this many Carr haters in 2004 when we were 7-9?

with the guy above me... i have to agree with him. why werent people not liking him when he through for over 3000 yards and DD and A.J. each had 1000 yard seasons and our secondary among the best in the NFL?

7-9 ain't great. Carr had the best performance of his career in the first half of 2004. His last 8 games that year, however, very closely resembled his 2005, which was not good. In his last 24 starts he's thrown for approximately 3850 yards with 21 TDs and 20 INTs. In that span he hasnt had a 300 yd. game, and has had only 5 games over 200 yards, with 3 games (including SF 2005) below 100 yards. He's thrown 0 TDs in 7 games and multiple TDs in 3 games in this span. Those numbers average out to 160 yards, with just under 1 TD and INT per game.

We can spin these numbers two ways, Carr playing the role of valiant game manager, taking sacks instead of throwing picks, making the most of the "worst" line and receiving corps in the game, sticking to the Capers game plan and winning the field position battle.

If we want to be really hard on him, we can say he did an atrocious job of generating offense, regardless of the aforementioned offensive deficiencies.

The statistics and W-L record (5-19) clearly aren't on his side.
