Here's the link: http://tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...81/1328/SPORTS
...and the quote: "The Bengals took Penn State running back Ki-Jana Carter first, and he never panned out. Two teams Cincinnati faced twice a season got linchpin players, however: The Jaguars grabbed a dominant offensive tackle in Tony Boselli at No. 2 and the Oilers plucked a franchise QB in Steve McNair at No. 3." I thought it was interesting to see the '95 scenario with the top 3 picks - RB, OL, QB - and how it probably will play out that way in '06. Right now it seems to me like it'll be Bush, D'Brick, and Young as the first three picks. Of course, I hope like hell that history isn't repeating itself this year. (And I'm not posting this to bash Bush or the Texans' brass for passing on Vince Young. It's just to point out the position similarities pick-by-pick at the top of that draft and this one. Thought it'd generate interesting discussion.) |

Brick won't go #2. If the Saints keep the pick they will draft Mario, but I think they will trade down and draft AJ Hawk.

I also still think Ki-Jana is a different scenario. Who knows how good he could have been if he was healthy. If he didn't have a freak injury in the preseason, his story could have been much different.
