Default Interesting comments on Bush from profootballtalk.com

1. Reggie Bush Could Be Dead By Halloween.

One of the first things we noticed upon perusing the schedule is
that it might be a good idea for USC tailback Reggie Bush to kick
Gary Kubiak in the crotch or make fun of Bob McNair's bald head
during his current visit to Houston. Because if the Texans end up
taking Bush with the first overall selection in the 2006 draft, Bush
might be six feet under before he plays his seventh game.

There is no Arizona State or Fresno State on any NFL team's
schedule. But, for Bush, he'll get a taste of some of the
hardest-hitting units in the league right out of the gates.

If chosen by the Texans, the 2005 Heisman winner will see the
Eagles, Colts, Redskins, Dolphins, Cowboys, and Jaguars to launch
his career.

So if the guy's for real, we'll know it by Halloween. If he isn't
for real, he'll know it.

if we select bush... A: He'll be splitting carries so it won't be too bad. B:he'll have some blocking so it's not like he's taking one on one shots...

Or...

He will take his lumps early and be unstoppable along with the Texans on the back half of the season when the team gets in sync.

The 1st 5 games being a home will also help...

It ain't any different than any other NFL message board, You gotta put on those boots and wade your way through the BS here, just like everywhere else. Every once in awhile, you'll stumble onto something that interests you to the point that you keep coming back. That's why I do, at least.

As for Reggie, he will be "welcomed" to the NFL, no doubt. It will be interesting to see how he handles it.

Is there a chance that BUSH could fail? SURE.

But I'm not counting on it. I remember watching LT at TCU and thinking "wow...this kid's gonna KILL IT". And from watching many hours of BUSH (uh...football games, not State of the Union)...I think he can be even far and above.

Excited, party of me.

I dont' think that's gonna happen. If you watch how Kubiak and the Broncos have done things in the past, you'll notice that most rookies don't start right away. He eases them into the lineup a little bit at a time. I wouldn't be surprised to see him used as the 3rd down back, slot receiver, punt returner and change of pace back in game one. Then each game his load would be increased. Besides, the guy is CUT and he doesn't seem to take direct hits. I think he'll be fine.

I think he meant the profootballtalk website. The answer is probably "no, it hasn't".

Back in the '99 draft, when it was nfltalk.com, Mike Florio had Indy taking Edgerrin James over Ricky Williams before anyone else did. He's still living off that glory.

Actually, the overall statement is true. We are playing a bunch of TOUGH teams right out of the box and Reggie WILL get popped a time or two. It will give us some sort of idea if he can take it at the NFL level. My guess is that he can, but ya never know till it's for real.

We play some good teams but it's not like Bush has to take the whole load. I think he'll be good for us

He will take some hits, but it won't be something that hasn't happened before. Some of the same guys who where in college with him will be in the NFL. The difference will be the amount of quality players on each Defense. I don't think he will have any problems adapting with his speed and cuts, the object of the game is to Avoid defenders and Score.

The thing that stood out for me when San Diego signed LT is how LT talked about going to San Diego. How he wasn't afraid to go to a losing team because he was certain that they wouldn't be losing once he got there.

Bush might be helpful giving the Texans a swagger injection, because that is what we desparately need.

PFT is right about us getting a sucko early schedule. We are gonna find out what sort of player Bush is and what sorts of players our team has.

If we look good at all early in the season with a new offense AND defense, it will be impressive. If we get some significant wins early, it will be one hell of a coaching job, and perhaps a testament to how good Bush is.

Conversely, if we start off sorry, it may not illustrate how bad our coaching or players are, but rather how difficult it is to get an entire team learning a new system. Immediate turn arounds happen, but even HoF coaches have difficulties righting the ship with bad teams, especially since the NFL doesn't do the old type of loser scheduling. (If the Texans start out bad, I will have to find some new music CDs because sports talk will be unlistenable with all the stupid stuff that is said).

Well, first of all we play Indy and Jac. every yr. So he will get used to them. We also seem to play the Dolphins almost every yr. Eagles, Redskins, Cowboys have good defense's. So what, this is the NFL. You are going to get hit. Question is, can the defensive players actually lay a solid hit on this guy. Maybe, maybe not. He has stayed healthy for a reason. Maybe because people can not get a clean hit on him. Who knows. Only time will tell.

Since when did the Colts have an intimidating defense anyways to be included on the original list in the article? They have a good pass rush and a lot of speed but they don't have any big hitters out there. For that matter the Dolphins are transitioning to a new defense with Dom Capers as the new DC, so I would not be especially worried about them either.
