I apologize to all you Reggie Bush fans.
I have made a very extreme point to put up the most idiotic out of the field comments on Bush these past 2 days. I did it intentionally so that all of you people get a taste of what you pro-Bush guys have posted about Vince when he had his pro-day. Do you people understand how off the wall you get about this topic? Look back at your previous post two weeks ago and you can see for yourself. You Pro-Bush guys are no better than the Pro-Vince guys and vice versa; I guess we are all Homers! Bush had his pro-day, Vince had his pro-day, and it is over. Some people love Vince and want him to play here, and some people love Bush and want him to play here. After deep evaluation, the Texans in all actuality need neither one of the guys. Arguments that are factual, Carr has not produced, Dom Davis is hurt every year. Bush or Vince comes here it is going to be a plus for our team but we will survive with out them. Another fact; we are paying a very high premium for Dom Davis and David Carr, if we take Bush we are going to pay probably 50 to 60 mill over 5 years with at least 15 mil up front, I have no guess for Vince because his agents have no history but my guess is it will be high. There is a chance that they will both be spot players and back ups, so we are paying huge sums of money for a RB or QB that we are already paying a high premium for! People need to lighten up and enjoy this history. I hope we trade down because we need OL, BAD! VERY BAD. I apologize for being a butt, I had to as a example to hopefully make some people open their eyes to how dumb this Vince Bush crap is. |

I started with my Pro-Vince Campaign about the time of the "Bush-Bowl" that put such a bad taste in my mouth, & then coming here, a place I've rarely come to(I had maybe 300 posts before January) and find more or less the same thing.
IMHO, Drafting Reggie Bush is just as Useless as Drafting Vince Young. We have a QB, and we have a RB.. I've posted many threads, okay, some posts, comparing DD to some of the best in the league, including games played his first three years. He's right there with the best of them, and better than a lot of them. He's a top ten back, in 2005 on a 2-14 team, there is no reason to believe he won't be top 5 in 2006. But they still want Reggie. I haven't been down on Carr for very long, but many have been, since 2002. But they will stick by him, no matter what. We've seen problems in his game, his demeanor more specifically. But if they have to choose, DD, or David Carr, they're going to pick David Carr, even though one has produced, and the other has not. Vince Young is to the QB position what Reggie Bush is to the RB position. Yet Vince isn't worthy of a top ten pick, much less a top 5, or a #1 overall. Yes, Reggie is as much a Runnng back, as Vince is a Quarterback. One complaint shared by many, is that we haven't given any serious attention to the offensive line since our inception. Yet most mocks done by our fans on this board has us taking one lineman in this draft in the third round... well we've done that. Even though I'd hate to take an OLineman, even a left Tackle at the #1 spot, in our situation I can see it.... D'Brick will go to N.O. at #2, or NYJ at #4. No question about that, if we can't trade down and still reasonably expect to get him, then we've got to take him when we have a chance. Mario Williams makes even more since to take, since we have the worse defense in the league, and have spent considreably less money on that side of the ball. But we're going with Reggie, and believe it or not, I can accept that. But I hope Kubiak has had long, long talks with David Carr. Watched the film on him. I hope he was serious about Vince being a prospect, and weighed the decision with the attention it deserves. If he said to himself, that he'd rather build a team around Carr..... I'm good with that too. But when Denver trades away the only guy they had that even resembles Reggie Bush for a cornerback.......... it makes you wonder.

Right now we have a better RUNNING BACK than we have QUARTERBACK. After we draft Bush we'll have 2 better running backs than we have QB. But by God we love this QB. |

Gee Frank,
The first sentence was quite nice. Then you felt the need to lay down the condescension and blew away any trace of sincerity. It's also worth noting that many posters have found a way to give props to their guy without degrading the other guy. I've found it's more effective that way; people tend to listen better when they don't feel that they're being assaulted. For what it's worth, no apologies are necessary. There's nothing wrong with being a "homer". Most fans are. We all care about the team and want what's best for them. The fact that we are not all of the same mind when it comes to the better path for our team to take is all a part of what makes us unique, and human. It's fine to disagree; when it gets personal then it's a problem and maybe then it's time to take a step back, look at ourselves in the mirror and ask ourselves "what have we become?"

I started rambling on another thread. This didn't fit, and I'm starting to sense that people aren't pleased with a knack I have for turning all these threads into Vince/Reggie/DD threads, so I found this one, to tack this thought onto.
