Default Charlie Weis says "Pick Reggie"

Excerpt from an article on Irish RB Rashon Powers-Neal.

The first thing Weis does during an ND pro day is meet with the NFL people before any of the players participate in the various drills and tests.

"That's so I can tell them what I think," he said. "And I tell them what a guy's going to run (in the 40-yard dash), and that's (the time) he runs. And I tell them you could take that guy over this guy, but you'd be stupid, because this guy is better. And you know something, they write it all down and go back to their GMs, and that's the way it ends up playing out.

"More than anything else with the draft, where I'm helping them the most is all the (NFL) people who talk to me on the phone. They ask me about players we play against, too."

And Weis' best advice?

"I told them to take Reggie," he said with a chuckle, referring to probable No. 1 draft pick Reggie Bush of USC.

Apparently I'm missing where Weis saying to pick the best player in college football in recent history is a bad thing.

You take a survey of who should be the 1st pick anywhere but in Texas and it's the majority to Bush by far.

That is all well and good, but each team is different in need, cap and philosophy. Bush and Williams are the two top guys in my opinion. Who addresses our need the most given our cap moving forward, acquisitions and attritions this year, especiall if we sign Moulds?

You're missing nothing. I never said it was a bad thing.

The is a bit of self-deprecating sarcasm. I couldn't be more pro-Reggie without actually sharing his DNA. I live in California (go ahead and boo all you Texas isolationists, there are 38 million of us not counting the guys and gals picking our crops), grew up in Southern California and have known of Reggie Bush since his days at Helix High.

He's the best player I've seen come out of college since a man named Bo came out of Auburn. I watched Marshall Faulk play twice when he was at SDSU and Reggie is much faster and shiftier.

If Reggie Bush is not the #1 pick in this year's draft, somebody's making a big mistake.

It's a no-brainer, IMO. Pick Reggie or trade down. Simple as that.

I like the comparisons that get made with Bush. While I like many of the other draft prospects, I still think there is something beyond special about him. I hope his college magic transfers to the NFL and he has a HoF career as a Texan.

Charlie Weis is much too FAT, RIGHT!

....so why on earth would I want to dare consider putting any faith or credibility into what he has to say in regards to choosing reggie bush over our MAGNIFICENT NATIVE SON VINCE YOUNG?

MY GOD! ....for don't these individuals realize that us REAL TEXANS are constantly monitoring what they are continuously spewing forth to the media and the public about this upcoming draft......?

Don't they know that this form of wild rhetoric is simply unacceptable.....?

We MUST and WILL PREVAIL over the naysayers!

You mean Coach Weis is PHAT, right? He has gone public with his battle with his weight. Not a big fan of Weis or ND, but I do respect the job that has done.

I really dont know who we should pick between Williams and Bush. Were solid at both positions but I see them both being future hall of famers.

MONARCH rarely makes much sense. He really gives good Vince Young fans a bad name. But on the topic, although Weis saying this has no bearing at all on the decision, its interesting to consider. Weis was the OC for the Patriots, and he was a main factor in building that dynasty. I think it's wise to at least read over what he had to say.

I Beg your pardon sir? Please pardon me, for you really do not sound so LUCKY to me........

Can you TRULY DEFINE just what it means to be a GOOD VINCE YOUNG FAN......? For if you could, then my name would surely have to be somewhere in the definition........I CAN ASSURE YOU OF THAT!

Your rhetoric sounds silly and impulsive........for you really do not know anything about me.......HOOK'EM HORNS!

Ahaha. Don't get me wrong, you are good for a laugh. But that's about it. For the true Longhorns out there that see a future with Vince Young as a Texan, stay as far away from this guy as you can. I think he has a subscription to www.thesaurus.com, they send him all these old English words for $9.99 a month. And the fact that I am a soon-to-be Aggie doesn't explain my reasoning for choosing Reggie Bush over Vince Young. It's reality that did that.

Yeah, every off-season for some of mom's home cooking maybe. That's "maybe" because he'll probably move to whatever city he plays in and live there full time. It ain't going to be Houston.
