We've got this "potential filled" but underachieving QB who we are in the process of surrounding with offensive weapons (If we go after Moulds and Bush we will have AJ, DD, Mathis and added JP, Moulds, Bush and Walter) so he has no excuses. I just hope DC fairs better than Joey. When I watch both of them play, I get the feeling that JH was never really accepted into his position, and taht the rest of the players on the offensive side were unispired. If we have this as our offense:
AJ Moulds DD Bush Putzier Walter Mathis I think we may become the next Colts. What about you guys?

Quick question to everyone who reads this post.
Would you rather have Matt Millen or Charlie Casserly as your GM? No neither answers. Which would you take? |

As for Carr I'll reserve judgement until I see how he plays with an offensive line that can pass block. |

How did the Indy offensive line play so terrible in one game against Pittsburgh in the playoffs? The answer is Manning and the coaching staff did not make the correct adjustments. How could five guys play so bad in tandem in one day? The didn't, that problem was Manning and the coaching. The front office took care of the coaching with the hiring of Kubiak. Now Carr will need to step up in his play and make the right decisions during the game, especially at crunch time. And later down the road, during the season, they will have to make adjustments because defenses will begin to read their tendacies. This whole sack problem starts and ends with Carr and Kubiak/Sherman. |

Wait! Wait! It wasn't the pass protection that failed Indy. Manning didn't make his reads fast enough and he was locking onto the #1 target, lol. Most of those sacks were his fault.
As far as Carr goes, you people know that he hasn't had his 12 yrs. to learn the system. Give the POOR guy a break! Mark my words: Carr will carry this team to a SB win in 2024.

No I dont agree the colts have a line...we dont...the colts have a great D, we have a decent one. I think last year casserly should have sat at QB for a day and took all the sacks and then maybe he would have realized our O-Line was not working.

I think he was comparing the offense only, and until this season, the Colts D was average at best. However, if we do get Moulds and the O-line is servicable, we could be looking at a Chargers like turnaround. Maybe not quite in record, but possibly in production, which would be a welcomed first step.

Assuming we get Moulds and RB, we will have some really powerful offensive weapons. I would like having Moulds here if for no other reason than to work with AJ. We are pumping the team with veteran leadership, something this team woefully needs.
Carr should have everything he needs to work the gridiron this year. The next two years will define who he is: a QB who had to fight through hell for his rookie seasons, or a potential qb who never rose up. Personally, I think he will do fantastic. I'm putting my stakes in the coaching. I never anticipated this much offseason activity from the Texans, and I think it will only improve the team. We are not - let me repeat - NOT copying the Lions! They have blew everything on receiver after receiver after receiver. The Texans are spreading their picks around to improve the entire team. |

Ahhh, none of you nderstood at all what I was trying to say.
I didn't include offensive lineman in there because thats not what the LIONS did. I was trying to compare our offseason strategies with the LIONS offseason strategies, and say that we are putting Carr into the same position the lions put harrington into last year. I'm not say our FO is the same as theirs, or that our players are thes ame as theirs. I'm not insulting the Texans by comparing them to the Lions, because all in all there moves have looked great on paper. What I was trying to ask was whether or not you think the Texans are providing Carr with as many weapons as they can so that they can see whether or not he's the real deal. Just like the LIONS did with Harrington

The OL is not some static force that either is good or bad. Its all tied into coaching, skill positions, QB awareness, etc. Let me explain:
1. If Carr has proper awareness and can read blitzes, he will get sacked less and correctly audible to a run play or a screen pass 2. If Carr has better vision, he can either break the pocket faster or get rid of the ball quicker 3. If the skill positions were upgraded, they could get open quicker and thus take pressure off Carr 4. If the WRs in specific are better they force the safeties to play back in coverage rather than walking up to the line to blitz 5. If the RB is better, it makes the LBs hang back just a second to make sure its not a toss play, giving Carr a little more time 6. If the TE is better, it prevents the OLBs from blitzing, because he's a legitimate pass catcher. Furthermore, if the TE is a good blocker, it helps stop a killer DE See? The OL is important, but every player on offensive directly effects the OL's performance as well
