Wow. I didn't even realize that the Patriots were going to lose Venatieri.

Darn...figures he ends up with the Colts.

All the Colts did was go from one good kicker to the next.

Actually, what they did was get a kicker who won't miss in clutch situations. You could argue that Vanderjagt kept the Colts from getting to the Super Bowl twice by missing a very important kick.

Funny thing is that the Patriots have now contacted Vanderjagt's agent:

Patriots | Team contacts Vanderjagt

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the New England Patriots have contacted the agent for free agent PK Mike Vanderjagt (Colts). They are in the process of arranging a visit with him.

Hey...that's why I really admire the Pats. They know how to find talent and make it produce to it's expected level. Once the player thinks he's bigger than the team, they let him go.
Adam will give them a better chance to get over the hump, unless Payton chokes again.

Viniatieri was pretty much a rock star in New England.

Vinatieri will give the Colts some clutch performances, but wouldn't it be funny if he misses a clutch kick for the Colts in the playoffs against the Pats?
