Is there a reason why we're not going after Lavar Arrington in free agency?

The Giants were pretty close to signing him but I don't think they ever did. The Bengals are reportedly interested in signing him:

Read a story about him.

Coaches and teammates are seriously concerned about his long-term health because he just hits so hard that he endangers himself.

They say he knocks himself out (or almost knocks himself out) sometimes because he's trying so hard to knock the other guy out.

On one hand, that's pretty cool and you want that on your team.

On the other hand, if the guy sustains multiple concussions because he's hitting way harder than others, and is doing it over an extended and consistent period of time, would you pay a guy that much if he's going to be next to Priest Holmes in the broadcast booth in 1-2 years?

I like his play. Just don't know that this team will EVER spend $$$ for LBs.

I also don't think that he has the ability to play MLB. The team already has OLB and it's not the weakest link on the team. Julian Peterson might be a better prospect to try at MLB, but I seriously doubt that would happen.

I'm hoping the Texans start looking LB in FA. Julian Peterson and LaVar Arrington are both still available.

yes... forget needs.. lets get someone whos name has been mentioned on sportscenter. That is what this team really needs.. more notable names.. that is what is REALLY holding us back.

No, but both Peterson and Arrington can play MLB and both can cover sideline to sideline. They are talented, thats why they are mentioned on Sportscenter. Name recognition be damned, I want talent.

everyone in the NFL is talented. Id rather get someone talented who wont cost us the rest of our cap space.

Both are OLBs as well... we dont need Olb.

none of our linebackers have half the talent they do.

peterson is a leader. thats all i've got to say. I'm not positive, but I believe he is a MLB or has played the position.

He's played inside in the 3-4 before. I'd rather go with the experienced, cheaper, and better fit like Cowart. If the Texans had to pick between Peterson and Arrington I'd take Julian.

If you could address your defensive tackle position, wouldn't that be more valuable to stop the run unlike last season.

We dont need to spend all our cap space on one player at this time. Upgrade or not.. neither of these guys are needs.

How can you say that LB is not a need of ours? Who do we have then? Greenwood is the only proven NFL caliber starting OLB that is healthy at the moment. Wong? Maybe, but coming off an injury like he had last year, who knows? Orr? He had a great 4-5 games at the end of the season playing pass rushing OLB in the 3-4. I would much rather have someone we can count on then the people we currently have. LB, whether ILB or OLB is a definite need for us

Peterson signed a 54 mil dollor deal with the Seahawks. He is off the market making Arrington the top LB in FA. He will not come here because he has not even considered coming here.
