David Carr = Jake Plummer (very similar style QBs)
DD = Any Denver RB (really doesn't matter)
AJ = Rod Smith (the solid #1 WR)
Jerome Mathis = Ashley Lelie (the burner to stretch the field)
Kevin Walter = "Easy" Ed McCaffrey (big WR to go across the middle)
Jeb Putzier = Jeb Putzier (they didn't mess around here and just got the same guy)

Now the Oline is a different story... but there are a ton of similarities with the skill players... If we do get Reggie though, that would be a player Denver never had...

At least Kubes is staying in his comfort zone...

Carr is a pocket passer. Plummer is a outside scrambler/passer.
As for the Rb's there very similar.
Rod Smith couldnt hang on Aj's Jock Strap.
Mathis/Lelie - similar
Walters/Ed - similar but walters has better hands
O-Line We cant compare

I can see some of your similarities but maybe a few differences!

I am perfectly fine with copying them, because they are number three in major sports for winning percentage in the last ten years. I know that the San Antonio Spurs are number one. So, I would be happy being with that company.

I think Kubiak just wants to do what he knows best how to do and that's just fine with me. I don't want him to copy somebody else's offense, but it's inevitable that he will do what he learned how to do in Denver. He's not through building similarities yet either.

With the denver o line, you can basically put any lineman in and he will do well. Look at their line, besides Foster there are no first day picks.

Disagree on Carr. He and Plummer are very similar. Carr has speed and throws well outside of the pocket and on the run.

There's got to be a talent line there somewhere. Otherwise, they could just call up some high school linemen and let them do it real cheap. I think it's just a matter of not needing as much size as other teams do. Quickness may become more necessary though.

That was the point I was about to make. It's all in coaching and with the quality coaches that we have IMO, our offensive line can be very effective.

Just think about how nice it will be to start a season with an O-line that does NOT have McKinney at center, Victor Riley anywhere, or Seth Wand as a rookie LT.

Say what you want about Rod Smith, but the guy has been Mr. Consistency his entire career. Posting 1000 yard seasons every year during his prime. Of course you can't compare them now. Smith is getting old and AJ is just entering his prime...

And I disagree with you about Carr. He rolls out and throws alot just like Plummer. In fact I think Carr and Plummer are as similar in style as any other 2 QBs in the NFL. I do think Carr has more upside though. Hopefully Kubes can take his game to the next level...

The only thing that Lelie and Mathis have in common is speed. Lelie is a much bigger receiver and is actually a receiver, not just a KR trying to be a WR.

I don't see how you can say Kub is trying to copy the Denver O when four of the 6 you mentioned were already here. With that you could say they were trying to copy it before he got here. I wouldn't say they are any more like Denver than half the rest of the league.

Agree. Neither one of them are true "running QBs"--I think the both of them run when they had no good systems and lines and can scramble throw.

If you look at both of them from their last season college rushing stats (where they both had protection as opposed to Carr rushing out of necessity for his life with the Texans and Plummer doing it in AZ), they are very similar:

Jake Plummer: 85 rushes for 63 yards 0.7 av yards per attempts, 3 rushing TDs
David Carr: 93 rushes for 74 yards, 0.8 av yards per attempt, 5 rushing TDs

David's throwing stats from college are way better than Plummers.

No doubt that Carr's skill set is better than Plummers, it is just David has not gotten the training to go with it. The only thing about Plummer is that it seems he has that freakish will to win that causes him to do stupid things, but it also got the best AZ team he ever had into the playoffs. I think if Carr was older and had that he would have gotten the team a year ago(7-9) into the playoffs. Not to knock Carr, but just a feeling on it. Also to the guy that said Kubiak has never had anything like Bush see Clinton Portis who put up back to back 1500yd seasons. Bush can only hope to do that well here.

I don't have a problem with "copying" Denver's O considering that the architect of Denver's O is now the Texans' head coach.

With regards to the O-line, I'd say that Kubiak knows a thing or two about building those. If they land Flanagan, Putzier and Ashworth plus pick up a prospect in the draft, then they'll be on their way.

Between this offseason and the next the Texans should be able to put together a nice O-line. I do believe that next season we'll see a marked improvement in the offense's performance.
