The O-line must be fixed.
The Texans pass blocking was horrible, and I am hearing WAY too much about how Kubiak will fix it with the guys we have. HORSE HOCKEY!! McNair swore that whoever plays QB this year will be protected, then Casserly says we won't be very active with FA's! WHAT? They need to bring in some competition for jobs on that O-line. At least one FA, two draftees, and three unsigned rookie FA's. (Although Casserly is not that good at signing undrafted Rookie FA's either.) Any thoughts??

Casserly will likely bring in a a mid-tier free agent or try and lock down a big time guy. I am guessing the mid-tier guy will sign and he will be able to play tackle and guard in our new system someone like Shaffer or Ashworth they both can play tackle and guard. Past that look for us to find two or more linemen in the draft likely starting in the second or third rounds. Colledge or Whitworth will likely last till the third. Mangold may make it out of the first and he is a solid pick at 33, unless jonathan joseph is there then it is a coinflip. As long as we get Mario Williams, two solid linemen, a CB, and a 3rd or lower round LB and TE then I am perfectly fine.

Pure Speculation
The Texans are willing to sign Sean Mahan, Guard, from the Tampa Bay Bucs. He is a restricted free agent, thus, the team would be willing to give up a 5th-7th rounder as compensation for signing him. Additionally, the Texans will draft one lineman they hope can compete for a starting job, as well as, one more lineman for depth (likely a big tight end that Kubiak will attempt to convert to tackle) in the late middle rounds (5th or 6th).

Missed the link, sorry!
It is not as uncommon as you think to convert a TE to a LT, especially in the zone blocking scheme.

Also I was wondering if any team could sign Lavar Arrington before FA starts like what happened with La'Roi Glover. |

Do any of you think McKinney restructuring his contract will help bring in Maewae from the Jets for our C and move McKinney back to G?

Butler from miami might be a fit for the new zone scheme, he is 6'5" 293lbs and started at LT when Winston got hurt.

I like Winston as a late draft pick who we let take it easy. Let him recuperate on the knee injury and really start pushing him next year. However, McNair's policy of "we want to win now" has me thinking we will pass on this guy.
I think Sherman has a lot of input to this line. I would be curious to know if there were any linemen on the Texans that Green Bay considered for draft day. |
