can anyone explain why glover is allowed to sign with a team now before the rest of the free agents are? there must be some tricky rule i am not aware of

has vince cured cancer yet?

Because he is allowed to pursuant to the current CBA which states March 3rd is when FA begins. The issue at hand is that if there is no extension then there will be no salary cap in 2007 which makes it difficult for teams who are already in salary cap heck to sign any FA's or rookies until they get guidance on the extension.

Vince is not a doctor so the answer is probably no.

well i'm still confused...i heard you could not sign free agents until wed night...is he some special free agent?

it was delayed per the March 3rd date and not to start until both parties agreed on a deal or no deal with this self imposed moratorium, but agreements may be done in principle

right i understand it was delayed...but why is glover..and only glover allowed to sign? none of the other free agents are allowed to sign

Even though the free agent signing period has been delayed by the ongoing CBA negotiations, the Rams struck a three-year deal Monday with recently-released DT La'Roi Glover, who was let go by the Cowboys on Friday. Under league rules, teams are allowed to sign players who have been released from their contracts at any time. Only players whose contracts expire after the 2005 season fall into the group that cannot be signed before free agency begins.

Why would Glover sign already? He's a good DT, why didn't he test the market? He should know the Galleria has some good houses...

thanks KT, i was wondering that also & was under the assumption that players who'd been cut had to stay in the same time frame as free agents. probably because most cuts come last minute and dont get offers until FA anyways.

The only reason LaRoi could sign with St.Louis is because he was CUT by Dallas. If you're cut you can sign whenever you want. If you're a free agent you have to wait for free agency.
