I would use a 2nd rounder for him, he is a great ILB. I'd consider a first if we got one by trading down.

Odell Thurman had "character issues" and he did pretty well. So did Chris Henry, that did not turn out so well though.

Joe Schad, of ESPN.com, reports Virginia head coach Al Groh has dismissed LB Ahmad Brooks along with DE Vince Redd and CB Tony Franklin from the football team. In January, Brooks announced he would not enter the NFL Draft. Now, transferring to a lower-division school or entering the NFL's supplemental draft are his options. Brooks, once viewed as a first-round prospect, chose to return in large part, however, because his stock had slipped.

Heres hoping he goes into the supplemental draft.

Indeed.

We have filled our needs at MLB for this year, but he would be a solid reserve this year and stud down the road. I would give up our 3rd rounder next year for him.

How does the supplemental draft work...I heard that there is a lottery to avoid the worst team from forcing juniors to enter and stockpiling them

I think it is the same order as the draft.
I hope he enters the supp draft.

It goes in the same order as the regular draft, and a team can choose to pick someone or pass when their turn comes up, but any pick you use in this year's supplemental draft will be forfeited in next year's draft, i.e. if a team picks Ahmad Brooks in the 2nd round of this year's supplemental draft they lose their 2nd round pick in 2007. We have the first shot at Brooks, but I wouldn't pick him anywhere before the 5th round of the supplemental draft, as I don't want to lose any higher of one of our picks in next year's draft.

I dont know about that Mork. 5th round at the earliest? I would be tempted in the second, but probally take him in the third.

There is no turn by turn process. All 32 teams submit bids if they want for the player. For example, the Texans bid Oakland's 2nd to get Hollings anticipating it would just beat out Dallas' 3rd round bid (their guess of what Dallas was bidding) which was higher than the Texans' 3rd round pick that year. The top bid wins--unfortunately in that example they "won" by a whole lot more than they meant.

OK, I wasn't sure on the turn part like that, it seemed like that would take a while, thanks for clarifying that.

As for Brooks, I would maybe give up a 4th on him but we could very well have a pretty high draft pick again next year and I don't want to give up a high-mid 3rd round pick next year for a guy that won't get much if any playing time this year.

He has more talent than any LB on our team, and more talent that any other LB you could draft this year. He has the ability to step in right away, granted he wouldn't, but he could.

We were willing to give up a 3rd round pick for a #2WR, why not a #3 for a pro-bolw talent MLB?
