Investigation of Tillman's death to be opened for Criminal Probe

He's not the only one that's been killed by friendly fire. Sure, I feel bad that he had to go that way. But, as everyone knows, "War is Hell."

yah, friendly deaths happen more then we think, its just we don't here about it, and i feel bad for pat and his family, and he was a great football player, but do you think this investigation would of happened if he wasn't a former NFL player?

I don't know, but honestly I think we can all do without government speculation into friendly fire incidents. I don't care if someone in Iraq died because they tripped on a rock or dove on a grenade to save someones life. They're all over there for the same reason and to start talking about criminal negligence in the middle of the war, hell maybe it's time to open the probe on GWB.

It might be easy to say "why do the investigation, it won't bring him back", or "I think we can all do without government speculation into friendly fire incidents. I don't care if someone in Iraq died because they tripped on a rock or dove on a grenade to save someones life.", but as a member of the military I hope they get to the bottom of the story. I know friendly fire happens and I accept that, but the only way to reduce the chances of it happening is to investigate EVERY incident and figure out WHY it happened and I hope they aren't just investigating this story because he was a ex football player, every case like this is investigated, the only reason why its going public and getting so much attention is because he's a ex football player.

The family deserves the investigation in order to come to some closure. They have seen their son propped up as a hero on a national stage due to being shot by enemy forces for political gain in an unpopular war. After that they are then told he was killed due to friendly fire.
