I may be missing something, but wasn't Starling cut last year or did he spend the season on Practice squad. Well anyway he is back on the roster. He was a pretty solid ST player, maybe he will make the cut this year.

I think he comes back but only for TC if we get a big acquisition like Moulds at WR.

Hie being cut was my major gripe last pre-season. As it was for a lot of us.
One thing I have to admit, though, is that I was also upset by the Swinton cut and it actually was a smart thing when you look at what we got in Mathis. So pass the crow, and hand me a fork... But I hope Starling gets on this team for good. The guy has hands. |

Starling has like Jaw Dropping Speed as well if I remember Right.
Imagine a 4 wide set , AJ, Mathis, Gaffney, Starling 3 of em could just run free, Gaffney can run a lil out route... I think if we did that play like once or twice a series the defense backs would just be gassed by halftime...

We have had problems at the WR spot for several years. What interests me is when players like Armstrong are mentioned Vinny and others are quick to point out they think they don't run their routes very well. My comment would be who does on the Texans? May be Gaffney. I think its all part of the previous problem I have talked about and that was the coaching and the schemes being imposed. The one worry I have had about the new coaching staff is the WR coach. He is young and I just worry about his knowledge. AJ doesn't even run good routes. I think its a common trait found in the Texans organization. That also affects any QB if his receivers aren't doing what they are suppose to do. To me this is a position on the Texans that shouldn't be a problem, but it is. That's why I would have preferred to see a new young assistant like Jerry Rice. New to coaching, but long in the tooth as far as knowledge of the position is concerned. To me this position requires the same attention as the O-line if the Texans are going to be successful offensively. You can say what you want about AJ, but he is not a go to guy who can beat the coverage despite how many people are put on him. He is not a TO or Moss. Even they have problems when they have no help, but they can beat you on any given play because of their unique abilities and good given gifts. They have far better hands than AJ. When the Texans got rid of Starling last year I thought it was a mistake, but it reflects on the coaches we had. We have a lot of young talent like Starling that simply isn't being developed. We kept Bradford who was just learning how to run routes after being in the NFL how long? May be someone is waking up........

Ibar,
You have been posting here long enough to know that the readers prefer paragraphs to block posts. Although your posts tend to be a bit too cynical for my tastes, I do find some solid points in them. Please make it easier for us to read them. Thank you.

The new staff will judge talent much better than the old
, I look for them to coach em up better and utilizing their strength within the new system. Also, I want to see how we come out in the draft, I can't wait til Draft day!
