Default What are the chances to have it all?

What, if anything could a team do to get 2 top choices in the draft? I just thought about it today and was wondering for those that have more knowledge in the drafting aspect of the game if they could tell me. Is it possible at all to get it done? Let's say we want Reggie and Vince... Could we get Reggie with our first round pick then trade a 1st & 2nd round pick, maybe with some players from our roster like Bradford, Hollings, Matt Murphy, or Marcus Coleman to get Vince in here at the same time?

Is it at all possible to get #1 & #2 and as far as for what and who we have, what would we have to put forth to get that?
Thanks again...

The easiest, and probably only way that we could do that would be to trade down in this years draft and pick up an extra first rounder next year. If both we still suck and the Jets suck worse, then we may have a shot at Peterson and Quinn next year.

But to get VY and Bush would almost be impossible. Trading up back into the first round would probably cost us our 2nd and 3rd this year and our 1st and second next year... maybe more. None of the players that you would want to trade would carry much value, especially Hollings and Murphy who arent even starters. Bradford, I think, will be gone next season weather we trade him or not, and Coleman is old.

No that wouldn't work. Nobody wants our castoffs. At the very least it would take something like Carr, our 2006 2nd, and our 2007 1st to get it done, and that probably wouldn't do it.

Why would the Texans want to try and pay the signing bonuses and contracts of a #1 and #2.

Wasn't trying to sell those specific players, just wanted to know how much a team would have to do to have something like that happen.

Well, I was curious about could it ever happen or has it ever happened. For what you said though, wouldn't it depend on who you got rid of?
If.. IF so, and don't think I'm getting specific; but if you got your #1 pick, then bumped out a QB for a QB plus did a 2-3 man trade (which you will have position fillers later for preseason before the roster cut), wouldn't that sort of keep the salary swap near level?

The question at hand if I understand correctly is, "Has it ever happened?"

Without going back and looking there is one time I can remember that a team had both the #1 and #2 picks in the draft and that was the Indianapolis Colts in 1992. They used those picks to draft Steve Emtman and Quentin Coryatt.

That was of course a bit of a bust draft at the top. Emtman looked great early and had an awesome collegiate career, but knee injuries killed his career. Coryatt played 6 years in Indy, went to Dallas and was out of football.

In 2000 the Redskins had the 2nd and 3rd picks in the draft and selected LaVar Arrington and Chris Samuels. Obviously that worked out pretty well for them.

In 97' the Seahawks had 3 and 6. Shawn Springs and Walter Jones were the picks. Again, that worked out pretty well.

Just some examples off the top of my head.

as i have said...it's very easy to get vince and reggie..if he REALLY wants to play here all he has to do is pull out of the draft...try to get reinstated at UT...this will fail but the draft will have come and gone...we select him first in the supplemental draft using next years 1st...vince sits for 2 years and with good coaching carr excels...then what?

Trade next years first, 2nd, and 3rd, along with cash to NO, and you get this years 2nd pick, and a good helping of Cap Hell to go along with it.
