Apparently they kicked him off the team and he will try to enter the draft. If his petition is not accepted, he will go into the supplmental. This guy would have been great for our 3-4, although I don't see us drafting him as an LB for our 4-3. Maybe he'll knock one of the TE's down to our #33 though. I think he was a legit top 20 pick last year and top 15 pick this year had he entered the draft.

So a very strong Draft gets even a little bit stronger.

This is great!!!
I would very willingly give up a 2nd round pick for him. Ahmad brooks is IMO the best LB in the draft. He now pushes Hawk down to third best. While the draft will not go like that, that is the order of their talent and upside.

Ok, how does the supplemental draft work. Do we have a pick in the supplemental draft, could it be the #1 pick. Just curious, but if he were to go to the supplemental draft what would be the chances of us getting a shot at him.

Brooks will likely get his appeal through to enter the draft in April. If not then it works the same as the regular draft except I think order is strictly determined by record, I might be wrong on that though. Either way whatever pick we make counts as the pick in the corresponding April Draft. If he hits the supplemental draft then I doubt he goes above the third or fourth round because most teams (at least smart ones) dont really waste high picks on supp players.
Brooks is very talented, but injury prone. If he is cleared by all doctors and can do enough to prove that he can make it through a NFL season then he will become a hot commodity. He is another one of those size/speed/athlete combos that can really get after it when healthy. He and Greenway will be battling something fierce. Damn shame Hawk is not 6'3" 250 or he would still be getting all the buzz.

How soon before we find out if he will win his appeal or not?

NCAA | Brooks still on the Virginia team
Fri, 17 Feb 2006 19:31:46 -0800 Jeff White, of the Times-Dispatch, reports University of Virginia officials said Friday, Feb. 17, that star LB Ahmad Brooks is still on the school's football team. A report had been published by a web site devoted to University of Virginia sports that Brooks has been dismissed from the team and would try to play in the NFL this season. In an email to the Times-Dispatch, Virginia athletic director Craig Littlepage said, "Ahmad's eligibility to participate has not changed." However, a source close to the football program expressed surprise that head coach Al Groh had said Brooks was still on the team. |

If we trade down and pick up an extra first next year, we may use one on him in the supp. draft.
