If I understand correctly, the Texans have until the end of this week to offer Carr that extension. I would say that will be the tell all to what they are planning to do with this #1 pick. Right? Correct me if I'm wrong.

They have two weeks from yesterday to sign his extension, and you are right that should be a good indication of the direction they are planning to head this offseason.

Your telling me they may not pick up the extention. They will still owe 7 million an theres no way we can get another QB with his upside at the difference of the money saved.I think they may be right to pick it up.I'm almost sure we can get something for Carr a player and maybe a pick.

Whether or not they sign Carr to an extension is not the only indicator of what they may do IMO. They can sign him to a 3-yr contract w/ an $8 million bonus or a 2-yr contract w/ a $5 million bonus. I tend to think that the 2-yr contract would make it easier for the Texans to trade him IF that is what they are planning. So, I think it's not only IF they sign him to an extension, but WHICH extension that is also an indication of the direction they are planning to go.

So NOW ...we're looking to see IF and WHICH contract extension Carr may or may not get.
Let's explore the options ....shall we ... 1) They do not re-sign him ...what happens then? Does he fulfill his current contract and then go to free agency? How many years or left? 1 or 2? Also, I would think that we would then get Vince ...right? 2) They sign him to a 2 year extension ...then maybe we're looking at a sign & trade ...or 3 year extension ...we're looking at getting Bush or D'Brick ...or some other option with the pick. 3) Any other scenarios? In a perfect world ...we end up with 2 early picks ...and get both Vince & Bush ...like that trade rumor of Carr for Ricky Williams and a pick ...or sumthin like that ...I'd love it. Say what you want about Ricky ...the guy can play football. I'd also like to make a push for T.O. ...I mean put all that together ...free agency is going to be very attractive ...we could be talking playoffs next season. Don't tell me what a young QB can't do ...not after the past 2 seasons the Steelers have had ...we could be right up there. I say Carr, Davis, the 2nd round pick, and even our beloved AJ are all trade bait. |

My guess is that they're taking a their time with this because they can. I don't expect anything but the 3-year extension.
Even if they wanted to trade him (which I seriously doubt), they may still have to sign him for 3 years because they wouldn't want him to appear less valuable to other teams.

It is also whether you want to start winning this next season or go another 2 and out like we did this year. This team, plain and simple, needs the experience of Carr. With Kube working with him, we are going to see a rebirth, which will project this team into some fantastic games, ones we have been waiting since the first of last year to see. Mark my words, this is the start of something huge.

From the minute you play your last game, it's time to put on your poker face. A smokescreen if you will. We don't know what the hell is going on. Believe nothing you hear unless it comes from Paul Tags mouth on draft day. Even if they sign Carr to the 3 year deal it means nothing.
Peep this scenario: Trade Carr to a team for their 2nd rd'r (preferably NO, Ari, or GB). All in the NFC. As well as swap pix with Tenn so they can reunite Leinert with Chow and we also get their 3rd and 4th from this years draft and next years 1st rd'r from them. They'll hold out on giving us their 2nd due to a deeply talented draft. Then the Saints either take Cutler, Young, or trade down themselves to a team that wants to move up (hopefully after Bush) Then we take Young if he's still there (and if he's gone we still get Bush as a conselation) or Cutler if the saints take young or a traded team takes young. All the while we stockpile 3 more pix totalling a startling 6 1st day pix as well as an extra 4th this year and an extra 1st for next year. Trade down guy is happy, VY guy is happy, or quite possibly Bush guy is happy. Kubes gets more to work with and the rest is up to the players we currently have/keep. Oh, and note to all the people who say Young isn't even tops on anyones draft board. Neither was Alex Smith last year. Ther was major confusion over who to take with the Leaf/Manning debate. Remember Carr/Harrington, we were both wrong. One more side bar if I may. If Caserly can get a 3rd for Drew Henson the he can damn sure get a high 2nd for Carr, hell toss in Ragone if it'd make the deal sweeter. We can take Croyle in the 3rd and actually give Young some comp to get the juices flowing. Banks would love to mentor Young as to how to handle yourself as an NFL QB.

Now explain your proposal to fitting all these first day picks in under the rookie pool .......Even if it were possible the Texans would be in cap hell 3-4 seasons down the road once these players were out of their rookie deals.

Why would Titans want to trade up? They could get Leinert or Young with #3 pick. Don't be surprised if they select D' Brickashaw.

Wow Corrosion the cap would be something special. It would not really affect the year of this draft, but next year with two first rounders. We would be in some serious cap trouble. Unless he is thinking no new CBA so we would be uncapped. right now we have four I am with the trade down to number 4 which is much more likely now that Bradway is out of the picture in NY, but that just leaves us with 5 picks and one or two of those is likely to be traded.

Okay, so I guess the plot is thickening. The Texans DID offer the contract extension. http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/HOU/9222864 No details as of yet ...that I'm aware of at least. Man I hope this works out for the best. (FYI The Best=Vince Young). |

![]() He's getting payed like he just took us to the Superbowl and threw 4500 yards last year. |
