Now here's my 'epiphany'.

I don't care anymore.
I don't care about the pros and cons.
I don't care about team need.
I don't care about who's the better player.
I don't care if everyone of the people opposed to drafting RB are absolutely correct and he ends up a complete bust.

I want this kid to strap on some Texans gear just so we have the potential to see something jaw dropping like the clips in these freakin videos.
Please don't respond about it being against highschool level talent.
I don't care.
I just want to see want might happen if this kids puts on our gear and steps on the field.
This is not really an RB thread.
This is a thread about a guy (me) who is just excited about the possibility of seeing the most exciting player to ever were the Texan logo.
OK, I know that the VY people are chomping at the bit to say that he might be that guy, and they might be right.

I look at it like this ... first imagine if you will the feeling you have when you see Mathis catch a kickoff and start upfield ... now imagine that about 20 mores time a game when Bush takes a hand off or catches a pass ...

I'm even willing to admit that Vick equals a lot of wins even though he really isn't a good QB.

But I don't think it was a smart move. Everyone wants to question"how do you coach a player like Vick" I'd like to know how do you build around him??


But I just like saying, I don't want to draft Reggie, because it makes no sense to me.......... I don't think he fits. I don't think he'll be a bust.

I am completely there.

For a long time, I resented Reggie Bush because it sickened me that people were hoping for Texans losses to get one player who may or may not be able to achieve in the NFL.

And then, after a while, I just accepted what ended up happening. Gatting the first pick. And knowing that the Texans ain't likely to take VY. And have wrapped my brain around what a good coach can do with someone that might be Marshall Faulk-like.

We get him, I'm the first one out to buy his jersey.

As I have said before, players like VY and Bush are the reason behind NFL Sunday Ticket. And I want one of these sorts of guys on my team. I can't wait to see how they develop in the NFL. I wanted VY instead of Bush because of how many more times a QB touches the ball and his combo of size and skill sets and because he really wants to be here, but I understand why that is unlikely to happen. (BTW, and as a complete aside, if anyone has any links that say that Reggie likes and wants to be Houston, I'd like to see them. The things I have seen have been, well, tepid. I'd feel a lot better about the pick if I saw at least a little love thrown our way).

I know our team has many needs, but it certainly needs playmakers. And hopefully we won't be at the top of the draft any more, so offensive ones will be harder to come by.

Anyhow, so I will admit freely that one of the reasons why I do not want to trade down is that I want to see at least one of these guys in a Texans uniform killing the league. And more buzz about the Texans. Winning causes buzz too, but it would be nice to win and happen to have something really fun to watch too.

And you know what???? After having no NFL, and then expansion NFL, and then the putrid season and the punchlines....

We freaking deserve it!!!

I want some bigtime FUN! And some stomping of the opposition!!

So there, I admitted it.


(But rereading the first post, I really don't want to pick these guys if I really knew ahead of time that they couldn't achieve. But I don't know that and of course, hindsight is a beach.)

While I prefer other avenues, I do like the mass speed this team would have with AJ, Mathis, and Bush. We really need to get lucky and have one of the OLT's fall to us in the 2nd though (or trade up for one).

And work on AJ and Mathis' hands. The drops were killing me.

I wonder if Jeremy Bloom is someone that CC would consider taking a flyer on late in the draft (assuming he's still there) ...

he's supposed to be like 4.25 in the 40 ...

I would love to see us take Bloom in the 6th or 7th round. He hasn't played football for two years so he may go unnoticed by many.

He does have GREAT speed and is a little more developed as a receiver than Mathis was/is and is also quicker. He also returned kicks so he could team up w/ Mathis on the kickoffs; he could compete for and probably take over the punt returning duties from P-Burnt.

I would like to see us take him late and he does seem like one of CC's projects....possible high-upside-type player.

i know you said that, but you said you would draft bush based off of his jaw-dropping plays alone. vince young does stuff that makes your jaw-drop also, thats all im saying.

Sure he does, but not to the same degree (for me). You might feel the same about VY and to a lesser extent RB, and that's cool.
In reality, I would love to see what each of them could do on our team, but that RB video was pretty fun stuff to watch.
