Default Kubiak on NFL Live now on ESPN

First question of course was Vince or Reggie. Geez, I bet he's tired of that.

A synopsis of what is said would be greatly appreciated whenever the interview is over. Thanks!

ok, in response to the Bush VY question Gary basically said the same thing he's been saying all day. He said that he will start studying players and that he has 2 1/2 months to do this. He said he will take the best player for the TEXANS. He said they were both great players.

He said he thinks the world of DC. Thinks he has all the tools to be a fine player. Said he realizes that David needs to reach another level, and that he's here to help him do just that. He's excited and ready to get started.
It was really a short interview.

eclem.. there is the door. goodbye.

Honestly.. do we have to go through this? If Kubiak wants Carr.. that should be enough to show you that a GREAT QB coach thinks Carr can be turned into a quality NFL starter.

Why isnt that enough for you?

Grid, the Good Lord Himself could tell 'em, and they wouldn't listen. Not saying they're wrong or right just stating a fact. When someone is dug in like a tick on a dog, you just don't change their mind. Nothing will. It's against most Humans capacity to admit to perhaps being mistaken.

I guess that depends on what your definition is of a "quality NFL starter".

Is Jake Plummer a quality NFL starter, or a serviceable NFL starter? Indeed he has improved as a QB over the last 3 years, but how much of that is directly attributed to Kubiak and how much can be attributed to maturity in general.

If you think Kubiak is going to convert Carr into the next John Elway then I think you're delusional (sp?). If you think he will make him into a Jake Plummer-type, serviceable QB then I agree with you.

Whether a "serviceable" QB will be enough to take us to a title is very debatable.

That being said, maybe we go with Carr for now and address the plethora of other issues we have (the #32 ranked defense, the OL, the TE spot, etc.). Then if DC is holding us back we draft a Brady Quinn or the next USC stud.

And we've seen them once in the regular season when we got blown out last year and for a couple of quarters in the preseason...you dont grade a QB on that amount of work.

C'mon. It may fly for Kubiack or someone to say he hasn't watched Young or Bush more than casually, but the Texans have practiced the last two years with the Broncos and have played them. There are over a hundred college teams vs. 32 (you and other fans around here manage to have opinions on all 32 NFL QB starters--hard to think a QB oriented coach doesn't as well) in the NFL. Plus, Kubiack prepared exhaustively for a 7.5 hr interview with McNair where he obviously (as Lucky predicted) convinced McNair he was confident he could make the Texans successful with Carr. You really think he took a flyer on that and hitched his wagon to Carr without looking at him pretty extensively? I'm not buying that one at all.

I'm sure that the Cardinal's fans were telling the Broncos's fans something like that with Plummer at the helm.

You don't think a QB coach instinctly notices who another team's QB does? It is like a pitching coach not noticing the other team's pitchers. I'm sure Coach K already had an impression of Carr prior to looking at extensive film.

I hope Kubiak can turn Carr's career around as much as anyone, but let's not forget that a lot of us were excited when Palmer was hired because we were probably going to have a young QB (didn't know who yet) that Palmer would need to groom, and he had worked wonders with Brunell, and done some good things with Bledsoe. What makes any of us think one guy with a reputation for making a QB the best he can be is any better than the last guy with the same reputation?

Difference being: this QB guru will run his own offensive system.

The thing that might keep Carr from prospering is not physical . Its a lot of things that have nothing to do with arm strength or running .

You get the idea Kubiak expexts Carr to work his butt off on the mental part of the game and becoming a team leader . He stated the QB has got to be the leader . I think Carr should show a marked improvement next year leaving fans giddy for 2007 . Remember the word SHOULD .

The big question to me is how much time can they can spend together in the offseason .
