Default [Scouts Inc.'s Top 32] Guess who's #2?

Is It Bush? No.

Is it Young? Nope.

Leinart? Hell no.

What about D'Brick? Yes sir.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft06/index

In all honesty I'm really coming around to the idea of trading down and drafting him, he has been impressive in the Senior Bowl practices and has gotten his weight to a little under 300. I think he will be gone no later than #4, so be careful how far you trade down. (Although Mario/Hawk would not be a bad fall back plan)

I have always been of the trade down opinion, but Fergueson is just seeming to fit our new system in every way possible, while still being the best pass blocker in the draft and on our Texans. He has gained enough weight, has held down Kiwi, and has shown a mean streak at the Senior Bolw.

I was watching the practice thing on NFL Network earlier today and Pat Kirwan said he has D'Brick going in the top 10 if not the top 5 which kind of surprised me.

DBrick might have been a bit light for a conventional offensive blocking scheme, but he fits the zone blocking scheme to a "T" and he is the top pass blocker, no injuries (that I know of). Sounds like a good pick to me particularly if we pick up a couple of other picks on the way to getting him. I still doubt we do it as we are like 85% certain to take Bush, but it would be great if we would do the RIGHT thing for a change and not the flashy or popular choice.

Before the Rose Bowl, I was 100% anti Bush and 100% pro trade down. I have no idea why, but now I am exactly 50/50. I think I am leaning back toward trading down. We could land our franchise LT and add picks while doing it and add depth/possible starters elsewhere. Like I have said before, I don't watch college ball but I am familiar with most of the more popular players. I was watching the Senior Bowl practice I think it was today on NFL Network and Pat Kirwan was naming off all of these names that were shooting up "his list" that I had never even heard of, some guys he had going in the first round.

I still say trade down and get D'Brick. Like many have said, he fits the system real well. I also heard that in 1 on 1 drills he just destroys people, including Mathias Kiwanuka. He also weighed in a 6'5" 297 which isnt a bad size whatsoever.

I like it But who wants the top pick? plenty of top notch runners out there, only someone who is desperate to take Leinhart away from the saints... will take our pick.. (Jets, Vikings) I dont think anyone has the insane lust for Bush that they will pay for it...

If we trade down and end up with the 4-7 or so pick, even if Ferguson is
still on the Board I think there's a good chance we get Mario Williams if he's there because you know we're going 4-3 and for the 4-3to really work, like the
OLB in the 3-4 but with a DE in the 4-3, you've got to have that big rush off
of atleast one side or edge for it to work and I'm reading Williams is one
of the best prospects since Peppers. They can let Babin, Peek, etc. fight it
out or platoon at the other DE. This is a strong year for offensive tackles,
Chester is looking real good, and we can get another tackle to go with Chester early in the 2nd round.

Good point on the shift to 4-3. Seems that is what Kubes has said he is going to do, soooooo, given that, IMO he is likely to want to make sure the players he has on that side of the ball match the system as he isn't a guy that tries to force a player into his system. With the needs on the O-line, which I am CERTAIN he knows is there, and the seeming change to the 4-3, I think we MIGHT be circling up on a trade down due to needs. Oh happy day if that is the case. In that case, I think they take what they feel is the best lineman available, D or O and take the other side with the next pick.

I was watching NFL Total Access on NFL network last night, and they had Mike Mayak (sp?) down at the SB, and he also said Cutler has looked great down at the Senior Bowl, and that he would personally take him ahead of Leinart or Young. He was just raving about him. We shall see.

I would not be surprised to see Tennessee draft Ferguson since Billy Volek has looked solid and they have a huge need to replace Hopkins soon.

I think that the Jets would love to trade up and pick Bush. Yes there are other good backs but, Phillip Rivers and Big Ben were still on the board when NY wanted to trade for Eli. No matter how many good RBs are there, with Curtis Martin getting as old as he is they will want to trade up for possibly the best player in the draft and the highest rated RB since LT.

Oh and on Ferguson.
  • He is killing Mathias Kiawanuka. He is the fastest, quickest most athletic LT to come out of the draft in years.
  • From what the reports have been saying in the Senior Bowl, he is meaner and also dominating in run blocking.
  • He will fit the zone blocking scheme perfectly.
  • Since we are keeping Carr he will be able to start right away to protect his backside.
  • He will give us the ability to move Pitts back to guard, if we sign Bentley, start him at center, keep Weigert at guard and Wade at RT.

By drafting Ferguson he not only solidifies a top NEED with arguably the second best player in the draft, but he also gives us the ability to pick up more picks and fill even more holes.

was reading that dbrick has been icing and pancaking some peeps, specifically that over rated DE from Penn State that is supposed to be a 1st rounder. I think fat linemen are overated. Back when dallas made some runs at the SB, they had Mark Stepnoski at center, who people said was too small.

side, dbrick is a very young man still. he will grow into monster once he gets into the NFL and training is his job.

Looks like the trade down camp pick to get the brick is heating up quickly. He can finally help solidify the line but it will be difficult to find a trade that allows us to get him. Or you take him first

I have been in that camp all along. But yes, it is starting to heat up. A lot of good things are coming from the senior bolw. Fegueson is now my top choice, and Cutler is pushing top status, thus making our pick more valuable. Just keep pushing players up.

1st overall or 1st after a trade down to 4 or 5? As long as we don't go past 5 I won't mind. You have to get Mario or D'Brick after that the dropoff is considerable. I guess to fill holes you could drop further and take Hali or Williams but my preference would be get Brick at 4 or 5 and pick up an extra 2nd and 4th. That seems reasonable I guess maybe a 2 next year also if you want to play hardball.

interesting info from ESPN.

Virginia OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson, who is arguably the top-rated prospect playing in this year's Senior Bowl, turned in an impressive all-around performance Tuesday afternoon. He lacks ideal bulk and is not an explosive blocker at the point of attack, but he shows rare quickness, lateral movement, body control and balance. He consistently erased Boston College DE Mathias Kiwanuka during pass rush drills and pile-drove Kiwanuka to the ground on one passing play during the team session.
