I have been a big proponent of drafting both Young or Bush. Both are good character guys with all kinds of upside. I have leaned Bush. I really can't stand the offense with our cast of characters and think we need a stud to go with AJ. However as I watch the playoffs and see guys like Palamaulu I start to wonder what it would be like to move down and find a guy like that. I mean guys that are all over the field like Porter and him are just awesome to watch. Just thinking aloud.

Mario Williams is being called the best DE since Julius Peppers.. and if we do switch to a 4-3.. grabbing ourselves a playmaker to fit in it would be a good move in my opinion. Also..considering the depth of this draft, trading down a few spots and grabbing a couple more picks could pay dividends in the future.
Ko Simpson also strikes me as a great prospect that would look good in Steel Blue. He is from South Carolina.. trained by the same guys that trained Dunta Robinson...and shows that same ability to move up and lay some wood on someone. I think moving down and addressing some needs on Defense could be a great move for us. |

Ive heard good things about Hawk.. I just dont see LB as as big a need for us as a DE or some more help in the secondary.
I wouldnt be unhappy to get him though. *edit* plus...in a 4-3..the DEs are responsible for most of your pass rush... so a playmaker at DE would be very helpful. |

I am glad someone else is thinking we should draft defense. No matter who is running and/or passing the ball. It won't mean jack unless we can stop the other team scoring 30 on us every game.

I am more convinced that our offense can produce (given coaching/playcalling improvement) than I am that our defense will improve by itself... especially if we do change schemes to a 4-3. Our talent is lousy for a 3-4 and it will be lousy AND ill fitting for a 4-3

I have come to think that Vince Young is the passionate pick , Reggie Bush is the sexy pick , trading down is the sensible pick to fill many chinks in the armor . I would like to trade down to no farther than 5 and take the BPA at one of the positions I need ( OL , CB , LB , DE ) that merit a high pick .

at #5 we SHOULD have our choice of Williams or Hawk.. if one of them is gone..then Dbrick should be on the board.
If we trade down..id like us to trade down to #4 with the Jets and get Williams. That...to me.. looks like the best possible trade down we could get. NO and Tenn wont make a deal..NYJ might. Williams at 290 lbs runs a 40 time as fast as the guys 30lbs lighter than him. hes a physical specimen. |

Trading down and getting Dbrick , Hawk or Williams and getting picks and or a player seems hard to beat . I think if we had three MB mock drafts with fixed scenarios , it would be amazing who's still there in the 2nd round . The first mock Texans draft Vince , 2nd Bush , 3rd trade .

As someone whose been screaming Defense Defense Defense Defense since gracious knows when I'm glad to see a small clan forming (regardless of my avaatar.)
I've said trade back even as far as 10 and pick up Michael Huff or Jimmy Williams. Two shutdown corners. That being said I think my current choice is to trade back for Hawk or Mario man.

With McNair/Young, Payton Manning, and Byron Leftsandwich on our schedule twice a year, not to mention McNabb, Eli, and the Boys on our schedule next year, we need to be able to shut down the passing game. CBs/Safeties should be a priority.

Honoring Earl, actually I think Dan Reeves bought a "DUMBASS" Stick so each and every time "Little Charlie" opens his mouth, Dan can whack him on the back of his neck to remind him who the boss is. I see very good things coming from this years draft. Oh, I forgot to mention that Dan also brought along his "STUPIDASS" Stick just in case "Little Charlie" had some trade ideas.

Yes, the clan is forming!!! Add me to the list of Defense.
I mean, when your Offense & Defense are both in the top 3 worst in the NFL (30s), you need to assess the situation. Kubiak should come in and fix the Offense, hopefully drafting an OL or two. As for the Defense, unless he brings in a top DC, he needs to look at the draft for Defensive help. I do think NYJ or SF would hop on the #1 pick, and draft Bush, or OAK would hop on it and draft Young or Leinart. Didn't DAL build their dynasty by getting several picks (granted via MIN and Hershel Walker). Hell, trade down, and get an extra pick in 2006 and a high one in 2007. I think it is time for Cass to stop using statistics and %s when determining football draft picks.....and just look for the talent!!!
