Default 3 players for Bush?

If we draft Bush, we have a RB. He also becomes essentially our #2 WR. (I do like Gaff though and think under Kubiak he could blossom.)

Do we trade 1QB, 1RB, 1WR for Young who will NOT play next year? Like McNair has said, he wants to win now. I'm not sure if VY gives us the best chance to win now.

Also, McClain KEEPS FREAKING SAYING that Denver doesn't use high picks on RB's. Well, they're always picking mid-round anyway. The top backs go top 8 or so. Anyway, Bush in that one-step cut back offense would be seriously sick, IMHO. Bush in the slot on a quick hitch would be pretty spectacular as well.

3 for 1, which is what it comes down to, is prob not the best move.

It depends on if you want to win a few more games right away or build a solid playoff team for the long term. I am fine with whatever direction we go Bush or Young.
IMHO VY can become another Elway or Montana ,that said I am ok with Carr, Bush, DD and A. Johnson.

A.) Davis is already a good receiver and runner. I don't see how we would gain anything by drafting Bush.

B.) The best way to win would be to trade the pick. That's what I thought your subject header was referring to.

C.) Umm, Olandis Garry, Griffin and Terrell Davis were well down the board. Not even first round.

D.) You mean, sick like Andre Johnson was this year? I'll say it again. If you don't get your skill position players some help, the only "sick" people will be Texans fans when they suffer through a series of double-digit loss seasons because their team drafted another version of Archie Griffin, Curtis Enis and Lawrence Phillips.

Where do you get the idea that either one of these guys by themselves is going to "build you a solid playoff team for the long-term?" Tsk tsk. Beam me up, Scottie. There's no intelligent life here.

Ahh..the whole 'there's no intelligent life here' because we don't bleed orange and don't think VY is the complete God answer to solve every problem...

How sick do you think those Texan fans would be if Reggie Bush became the best RB of all time.

Carr is a non-factor in all of this. He has already proven his worth here. The Texans would be better off grabbing a QB that will actually lead to winning seasons in the long run than just winning next season which probably means 6 wins tops. Also, if it is possible to trade Carr, they should do is ASAP while some other teams are still under the illusion that this guys is going to amount to something someday.

Well, you won't need to worry about that, because he won't become the best RB of all time. He isn't even an everydown back.

With that said, he can be a gamebreaker if used properly (as a receiver out of the slot or backfield plus about 10-12 carries) and I think the Texans should take him over VY.

However, the Longhorn in me wouldn't at all be upset if we somehow ended up with Young.

Ok man you need to lay off the sports center. It is melting your brain. Did you see reggie bush play this year? If you did how can you even make that statement....don't worry I know you are just spitting out what you hear on ESPN or what a sports writer has written.

Was Walter Peyton an everydown back? Why did they give the ball to the Refrigerator Perry on the GoalLine or 4th and short?
Willie Parker is a stud, but they still hand the ball off to Jerome Bettis to get the short yards.

The reason is you have fast guys and you have big FullBack, bowlingbowl type guys that muscle through guys for short yards. LenDale White was too good of a player not to get a lot of carries and he was a good change of pace. Man USC had two ball carriers that are going to be top 20 picks, why wouldn't they split the back field.

I have seen Reggie Bush run right over guys ala Tiki Barber. Break out the game film from the Rose Bowl and you can see him run right over Texas stud Michael Huff.

Everyother player in the draft has bigger question marks and more to prove than Reggie Bush.

Actually, the vicious stiff-arm that Huff took in the Rose Bowl was from L.White and not Bush. Try again

Bush does not run over anybody....his game is avoiding contact; getting in the open field. That is why I question him in the NFL. In college, the first man never got him down, but not b/c he bowled over them. It was because he out-juked/out-ran them. Won't be that easy in the NFL. That's why he had a non-Bush-like game in the Rose Bowl. If you go back and notice, the first defensive player that Bush met with, he was taken down. That's why he was limited. First player got him down and they limited his yards after catch/carry. If the Texas defense can do that to him, I have to believe all NFL defenses will as well.

If Reggie Bush isn't an everydown player because of his college resume, does that mean that Vince Young CAN'T play under center?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiight.

:brickwall Ummm...no, not necessarily.

The question of Bush being an everydown player has to do w/ Bush's small frame taking more punishment than he has ever had to take. VY behind the center or in a shotgun doesn't really correlate w/ him taking more shots to his body. And even if it did, VY has a lot better probability of being able to take the shots since he is 6'5" and 230lbs.

Well, where to start? First, why is it that you react like someone is taking a shot at you personally when they question Reggie Bush?

Now, Because I believe that Bush won't be an every down back, all I do is watch sportscenter? I actually have boycotted sportscenter before and after the Rose Bowl because of all the super-human hype both Vince Young and Reggie Bush have received. I'm a freaking student at UT and I don't want to hear all the crap they are spouting about VY.

Second, to answer your question if I have watched Reggie Bush play... The answer is Yes, on numerous occassions. I watched him against Arkansas, Arizona State, Oregon (which he had a couple of amazing runs in), Notre Dame and Fresno State and UCLA (which had three of the worst rush defenses I've ever seen, and coincedentely Bush has his three biggest games of the year), and of course Texas. I didn't see every game, but I saw enough to form my own opinion (and just because ESPN says similar doesn't mean I am "stealing" their opinion).

Third, as has been stated, Bush didn't run over anyone in the Rose Bowl. Huff was absolutely OWNED by Lendale White, not Bush.

Now, I'm not doubting Bush's strength because I know he has the power to break some tackles, but he does shy away from contact with his style of play (with good reason, too. He is not built to take between the tackle punishment 25 times a game). What I am doubting is his build and whether it lends itself to being an everydown back in the NFL. IMO, it doesn't. I don't believe he is a RB you will ask to run between the tackles (since he wasn't asked to do so at USC), and thus he most likely won't be an every down back.

Now as for backs that were in the league years ago with smaller builds (Sayers, Payton, etc). Don't you think the LBs and DLineman are slightly bigger, faster, and stronger now than they were in the past? I don't think Payton or Sayers would survive as an everydown back in the NFL today (which I'm sure you will be quick to disagree with me on).

Also, think of it as a potential positive that Bush might not be an everydown back, not necessarily a negative thing. Not carrying the ball 25 time a game could help lengthen his career. I wouldn't even want someone his size taking 30 hits every game.

Finally, Bush has just as much to prove to me as everyone else because he, like other draftees, have yet to play a down in the NFL. He also has received god-like hype from numerous media outlets, which puts even more pressure on him to succeed.

P.S. Stop acting childish when someone critiques a player you may or may not like. Just point out why you think they are wrong without bashing them or calling their opinions worthless.

you know i keep hearing that bush can play WR...and i had heard this before the rose bowl...so in the game i watched...and actually didn't have to pay too close attention because ABC replayed everytime he went out wide....i couldn't help but notice that he was smothered on every play..now coming out of the backfield was a different story but as a WR?? i'm just not convinced...i am also not convinced that most other backs would not have gotten the same receiving yards on those screens(we won't speak of the pitch)...the TD run was amazing but would that have scored even against the lowly Texans D?? i don't think so....

trade the pick we have too many holes.....but if we must take one of these over-hyped players i guess take bush...VY does nothing for us for a couple of years..why oh why would we do that? oh ya..he's from Houston
