Default M. McCree on Jim Rome

He said it feels good to not work your tail off every summer only to go 5-11 and be disappointed. He is now talking about how he watches extra film, runs more sprints, etc because he still feels he has some 7th round stigma going with him. A hard working guy who has a chip. Why is he gone?:brickwall

Because Capers and staff felt that Coleman was a better option at safety and Faggins was a better nickel option than Coleman/McCree.

I always liked the guy and that is too bad. Considering they thought Coleman was better, now I know they had some trouble evaluating talent and where it would fit.

B/C the former coaching staff was horrible at evaluating talent. The same staff that was big on Babbin and Pbuc was the same staff that keeps Armstrong out of games and started Brown over McCree and then let McCree go and Riley was a better left tackle than Pitts and Coleman was a good safety and so on and so on and so forth. Now McCree starts for the Panthers and had two pics in last weeks playoffs.

Do you think that coaching staff wonders why they are out of a job?

No sheet. This same crew thought Steve Foley couldn't even make our roster. What a bunch of morons.

Yup, that is sad. Like I said, he was a good interview on Rome and seems to have that work ethic you like in a guy....he wants to stay ready because he had to come from so low.

Kenny Wright can also be tossed in the mix. I didn't watch him play any, but wasn't he starting for the Jaguars in the playoffs? So, that makes 2 guys we let go that made the playoffs as a starter, right?

If we still had him, we might not even be considering drafting a safety right now. We could have McCree and CC Brown as starters. I McCree went down, then CC Brown would slide over to FS and Earl would start at SS. If Brown got hurt, Earl would just replace him. Another example of why this coaching staff had to go. They didn't seem to know what they had.

Definitly put this one on Capers & Co. - The coaches make most of the personel choices. The same blame goes for P-burnt, Hollings, Joppru, Wand etc etc... the list unfortunately continues on... Cass as was found out in the P-burnt scandal doesnt watch much tape and thus was just a deal maker for the most part.

Another one that got away you would have to add is Jaime sharper with the Sea-chickens. Before he got injured in the last few games - he was a playmaker for their team too just like here - yet was let go for "Cap reasons"

Once more - The most clueless Ex-staff in the NFL strikes again -

Thank God we wont have to deal with most of them anymore.

If Jamie Sharper won't have gotten hurt it could be 3 people starting for playoff teams.

I've always given Casserly somewhat of a pass in the talent evaluation department, because he brought in some guys that this staff didn't utilize and then when they left, they were productive. Foley is the most obvious, having made the Pro Bowl, but good teams get good production from less-than-premium talent. I posed the question to Dom Capers directly of why didn't they consider using Coleman at nickel corner in those situations and McCree at safety, since McCree had shown in 2003 that he could man the position effectively. That is when I was given the answer about Faggins and how he fit into the picture.

Add in Kenny Wright (not a great corner, but better than Faggins and at least as productive as Buchanon, despite physical talent), Foley (obvious), Clark Haggins (we declined to sign him after he tried out for the coaching staff - has done well in Pitt), and Pitts getting shuffled around despite having his best showing at left tackle (I could understand it for Wand, but not Riley), and you sort of get the idea that maybe Capers and staff have had a lot more to do with the demise of this team than Casserly.

Now, I totally hold Cass to the fire for the prices he's paid for these guys, and I'd like to see him fired for the Buchanon deal alone, but I do think he's brought decent enough talent in here - he's just paid too much for some of it (Babin, Buchanon, Wade, Greenwood).

Casserly should not get a pass on these mistakes. Remember it was Casserly that brought in Coleman in the first place. Casserly ultimately has the last say in all personnel decisions. You can't say that Casserly did good in bringing them in and Capers did bad for not resigning them, that makes no sense at all. If anything they worked hand in hand on these decisions. Isn't the scouting department under Casserly and did not one of them get fired when Capers was?

Whats funny is that even Madden evaluated McCrees talent better than our coaching staff. I remember starting up Madden 2004 and seeing M. McCree listed as an 85, and thinking what the hell is this? This can't be right, and lowering it.

Um, do you think he got those two picks because the Giants thought he was a weak spot that needed to be worked? After all, if you think a DB is good you run patterns away from him.

regardless if what you believe, he is playing solid and has been coming up big lately for a possible superbowl bound team. and since he left it is time to go after FS in the draft (am i the only person who thinks this?)

1 of those INT was off a tip, and a FS doesnt usually cover WRs 1 on 1, so its not like he has an abundance of opportunities

No, what I'm saying is that Casserly brough the talent in. when it came time to resign them, he used all the information he had available to him based on the time they were Texans. That data was flawed, however, due to Capers' misuse of players. Why in the world would Casserly resign Steve Foley, for instance? He saw talent in the guy, brought him to the Texans, and did not get the return on his investment he was looking for. So yes, Casserly let them go, but he was making that decision based on information given to him from Capers and staff - either directly or via game results.
