David Carr, 4 NFL seasons, 18-46, 0 playoff games or even a chance of a playoff hunt.
Vince Young, 3 NCAA Division I-A seasons, 30-2, 2 BCS Bowl wins, 1 Big 12 Championship, 1 National Championship, and countless other awards. Enough said, now give me a reason why you have to argue that Carr isnt one of the most glaring of problems for the Texans. |

Carr Had some good college stats too. Carr is supported because he hasnt gotten a fair shake here in Houston and he still shows flashes of real talent on those rare occaisons when he isnt being sacked. Yah ive heard all the arguements about how the sacks are Carrs fault..blah blah blah... fact of the matter is that he needs more time..with a new coaching staff..and a bit more talent on the Oline..before we can say that he ISNT the franchise QB. That being said. Im intrigued by Vince. |

Well first of all, David Carr was drafted by an expansion team. The first 2 years, we were bound to have losing records. He had a decent 3rd year and yes he's been bad this 4th year but I don't think that's all his fault. He's never played behind a decent offensive line. This year Domanick Davis and Andre Johnson were both hurt for part of the season. We don't have anyone besides Johnson to throw it too. We have crap for tight ends. Our OC sucks, the playcalling was way too predictable.
As for Vince Young. I think he'll be better than Michael Vick, but Vince Young IS NOT going to run all over the NFL like he did in college. If he tries, he's going to get injured. Young is an exciting college athlete but his playing style is not going to fit in with the pros. |

Drop Vince Young in our offense right now, and he will look like a pop warner kid compared to Carr..
It was one game...get off his nuts. |

Theres a HUGE difference between college stats and NFL stats. And pretty much everything Grid said except the "Im intrigued by Vince part" for me. I mean, hell, the Lions gave Harrington one last shot and he's done A LOT worse. I guess my real answer to your question is Faith. I think Carr can be our QB.

i say take vince if he's available, id be pissed if they picked anyone else before him for the first pick, even bush. yes the Oline is terrible, and carr doesnt get enough time to complete a play. but how many oline options are there in the draft, none that i know of, but no one talks about them anyways.
it wouldnt be a good idea to pick oline players in the early rounds, especially if there are players with good stats like young and bush, maybe even lendall white, also in the draft. let's be realistic, oline positions get hurt all the time, he gets injured quickly in his career, then we've got no good olinemen, and meanwhile we're being owned by the other team that took the good players when they had a chance too. the titans arent too far behind us, itd be haunting if they get bush or young with the intensity they have now, itll haunt us for seasons on end having to play them twice a year. |

i'll give carr another year under a new team with new coaches, but i seriously think he is not the future qb of this franchise.

If he wasnt so damn stuck on running down the sideline.. and would quit the freakin tunnel vision.. he may have seen the chance to cut to the left (*gasp*) and avoid being pushed out of bounds. For the next Barry Sanders.. he didnt seem too interested in making plays. more interested in taking whatever was given to him. |

I can see why he was running along the side lines. There wasn't much time left in the game and they had no time outs. If he gets tackled, at least he is tackled out of bounds and the clock stops. If he runs thirty yards and gets tackled, they might not have enough time to get the field goal unit out. |

i agree with most people on this board saying that carr should get some more chances, but another player should be brought in as competition, a form of motivation, "hey if youre as good as you make it seem, then you'll outperform this rookie". maybe that rookie can be found in the near future hopefully.
and how is it nuthugging if youre rooting for a guy who wouldnt have completed that final play anyways, he went to the sideline or he'd get straight plowed by the 3-4 texas defense players. he and leinart are panzies that run away from being pummeled, i have to give props to white for being the only major playmaker on usc that wasnt a little ***** and went right into the defense and got the job done. saving your pretty face wont win the game leinart. |

Eh.. yah I can see where you are coming from. Im still disgusted that Bush is a sideline hugger though. That just wont work in the NFL. Bush = Tony Hollings, but on a better college team. (oooo..someone is gonna be angry at that comment) |

Let me also add that Bush plays with 5 sumo wrestlers as his offensive line. |

ya, there was that one huge USC olineman, some native american dude, they were talking about how he already has 2 planned kids, and he's like a sophmore or something. he was great at blocking, the USC oline allows leinart the time he needs to make a play usually, and they make huge holes for bush and white.
but ya, i notice how bush and leinart cower in fear when they realize that they're about to get smacked by an opponent. i think he runs the sidelines out of fear for his pretty face, god forbid if it should get mangled. young and white willing plowed through defenders with no fear or hesitation. if they're gonna take a RB, get white, he proved himself in the rose bowl if thats how he always plays. |

(b) yeah, by all means let's tie this can't-do-it-QB around the franchise's neck for another 2 or 3 or 4 years, and pay him a zillion dollars because he's done such a great job and we really NEED to give him a fair shake. Carr is not even on the same planet as Vince Young. Vince young could start for this team tomorrow and do better than Carr has done. No question. Let's get real. |

thank you, its good to know that someone can agree on who is the obvious all around player that would benefit a failing team more.
and no, it wasnt just one game, its the past 20 games for texas. just because you werent watching them doesnt mean it didnt happen. did you see that comeback against oklahoma state this year? 0-28 in the half, number 2 texas being blown out by an unranked team. i believe the final score was 28-47, idunno somewhere in the 40s. has carr even allowed us to score that high in the franchise history? honestly, if you know anything about football, stop agreeing with what sportscenter says, USuCk is overrated and most of its players are too. this should be a no brainer, what good would a RB be when we already have a good one, and an oline that wont open holes for him? reggie isnt that good. young's oline fell apart tonight, and he still got the job done on most plays late in the game. enough said, this has happened in the ohio state game, and michigan last year, and oklahoma state. who doesnt want a player that aides in a comeback? |
