All year long I see ya'll complaining about the interior being the main problem w/ the line, we can fix that very easily through free agenct this year and the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the draft. LaCharles Bently is a Pro-Bowler at OG AND C(you think he wants to stay in NO?).
Max Jean-Giles is one of the best OG prospects to come out in years. We have to first pick in the 2nd, and Im pretty sure that either he or Marcus Mcneil (we should be so lucky) will be there. With the Hedge Hodge at C, Bently at RG and Mcneil at RT, or: Hedge Hodge at C, Bently at LG, and Jean-Giles at RG, not to mention Bush and DD in the backfield, we would instantly upgrade this teams offensive output. Just my

so your arguement that we dont need to draft a left tackle is that a center who is a free agent will certainly rush to sign with a 2-14 team, a highly touted interior lineman will be there in the 2nd round, and possibly a lower graded left tackle. Good to know chief.

im just saying.... infer however you want to; if that means being critical and not trying to read through my ramblings (Sorry I tend to do that) then fine, I really dont care, but to me Bently seems like the obvious choice and if you throw money at people they tend to not care about records.

I also don't like Brick, we probably need him less than Bush and he seems like he could be a bust. Even if his pass pro skills translate, his run blocking skills are average and he doesn't have that brute attitude that good o-linemen have.
If we trade down, we should get a defensive player. |

So you are basing your whole draft and planning next season on us signing Bentley. If that happens then you plan might work. |

I won't say we don't NEED d brick b/c our line needs anything it can get.
I just don't feel like D Brick is worth a top 5 pick. Yes he's a nice pass blocker but his run blocking lulls me to sleep. He doesn't have that gallery attitude which I would want to spend top 5 money on. I'm just unimpressed and I watched him play at UVA all season. Maybe if he got in a fight with the opposing team I'd feel better. I need my LT to be a lil off kilt.

DAmn Damn Damn I like your preference Mork. Now Winston is my guy and he is from the U which bottomline produces stud players. I also find it interesting that we could pick up a playmaker in the 3 or 4th in Devin Hester. Anyway looking at the line also keep in mind we may restructure McKinney for a few more years. He will be entering is ninth year and can play the LG posistion making Davin or Gilles the RG and locking down the line for a minute. Then we can use a 5-7 on a project OL like Hodgon. But let's remember it all depends on combines and workouts. If Winston does a good shuttle and puts up some serious benchpress reps believe me he will be a top 10 pick.

By gettin Brick, we putt Pitts back at LG, solidifying two line spots. Then we can go after Giles or Davin Joseph to solidify the other side of the line. If we get Bently, it would have to be for about $30M with a $9M bonus. Coupled with DD's, Wong's, Greenwood's and Walker's BIG contracts, Carr's extension and the money for a #1 overall pick, we are heading for cap hell!!!

I think we are just an OT and Center away. We put so much money on Todd Wade that, i believe we may have to transform him into a Guard ala Leonard Davis. I think we may have to keep Mckinney, Wiegert, and Wade due to contracts. I think they would all be formidable guards.
So i think we need a center(Bentley) and a real Tackle who knows how to pass protect. |

And yes we will draft Bush, and draft that OT/RT at the 33rd pick.
Then we will probably draft Defense for the 65th and 66th overall picks. Unless a stud TE is still on board |

Watched an ESPN piece on Winston this morning before I came to work and it sounds like he is going to stay in school one more year. I think his reason is as good as I have heard from any other player - he likes the comrade he has with the rest of the USC o-linemen. Also, due to his run-ins with the law, he may need it to mature a little bit.
Looking forward to watching him play in the Rose Bowl tonight. Since we are talking about linemen, if we slip down a little bit and haven't taken a lineman, we should look at Boston U's Jeremy Trueblood. I watched BU's bowl game and while Trueblood didn't make all his blocks, he missed maybe 3-4, the blocks he did make were driven into the ground. The kid's got motor and a nasty disposition. Qualities I like in a lineman. |

Here's my arguments to this idea of drafting a couple rookies and pretending like they're the savior to the OLine.
1) I don't want 1 rookie starting on the line 2) I DEFINITELY don't want 2 rookies starting on the line Atleast not the first few games. Unless everyone wants the #1 pick again? |

I haven't seen Trueblood, but have heard some really nice things about him. A bit unheralded, but he would be someone we could look at in rd 2. Heck, I even like his name. It's a good nasty, lineman sounding name. Sounds like a pirate. Maybe he comes with his own parrott.
