1.Houston Reggie Bush, RB, USC
Let Kubiak turn him into TDavis. 2.New Orleans Saints Matt Leinart, QB, USC Obvious need, obvious talent. 3.Tennessee D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia Stud left tackle is worthy of #1, but the Trojan backfield is also in this draft. 4.N.Y. Jets Mario Williams, DE, North Carolina St. To replace Abraham (although I would love to see a Vilma/Hawk LB tandem) 5.Green Bay A.J. Hawk, LB, Ohio St. (or Williams if the Jets take Hawk) 6.Oakland Jimmy Williams, DB, Virginia Tech A perfect fit. 7. San Francisco Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon A perfect fit at nose tackle. Will give Young some protection. 8.Buffalo Eric Winston, OT, Miami Mike Williams has not panned out, so they go back and try it again with a Top 10 tackle. 9.Detroit Vince Young, QB, Texas Desperate pick - I think it will be a wasted pick, at least for a few years (Young will need at least three years to catch up to NFL speed). 10. Arizona Laurence Maroney, RB, Minnesota AZ will take a RB (unless they trade for DDavis or a QB is there). The question is Maroney or White? (with DeAngelo being a third option) 11.St. Louis Mathias Kiwanuka, DE, Boston College Top 10 talent slips to them at 11. 12.Cleveland Tamba Hali, DE, Penn St. Someone needs to pass rush. (they could go with DeAngelo to round out their offense instead). 13.Baltimore Michael Huff, DB, Texas Perfect player fills a need. 14.Philadelphia LenDale White, RB, USC Gives them a power runner to complement Westbrook. 15.Atlanta Darnell Bing, S, USC The hard hitting playmaker would add physicality to their secondary. 16.Miami Marcus McNeill, OT, Auburn With no QB on the board worth the pick, OT is the next biggest need. 17.Minnesota Chad Greenway, LB, Iowa Greenway is too good to pass up and fills a need. 18.Dallas Laron Landry, S, LSU Could form one of the better safety duos in the league with Roy Williams. (or an OT like Scott would be second option) 19.San Diego Santonio Holmes, WR, Ohio St. The Chargers have some steady intermediate receivers but Holmes brings playmaking ability to their corps. 20.Kansas City Rodrique Wright, DT, Texas They focused on the defense last year, but did not address the interior DLine. Got the UT thing working. 21.New England DeAngelo Williams, RB, Memphis This year exposed their need for a young RB. 22.Denver(Was) Mercedes Lewis, TE, UCLA The top TE in the draft rounds out their aging offense. 23.Tampa Bay Winston Justice, OT, USC Will take the best OT available. 24.Carolina Jonathan Scott, OT, Texas Carolina really needs a WR but none are worth the pick. 25.Chicago Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland The Bears would be ecstatic to land Davis or Lewis down this far in the draft. 26.Cincinnati Claude Wroten, DT, LSU With one of the best offenses in the league, they turn to the defensive side of the ball. 27.Pittsburgh DeMeco Ryans, LB, Alabama The Patriots do not draft linebackers early but this year they do. Ryans is experienced and tough which makes him a good fit in NE. 28.N.Y. Giants Jesse Mahelona, DT, Tennessee The offense has a lot of talent, but their interior DLine needs an upgrade. 29.Jacksonville Tye Hill, CB, Clemson The best cover corner in a weak corner draft is an ideal fit for Jacksonville. 30.Denver Brodrick Bunkley, DT, Florida St. Bringing in the entire Browns front wasn't enough. 31.Seattle Elvis Dumervil, DE Louisville 32.Indianapolis Ernie Sims, LB, Florida St. For a team that is built on speed, there is not a better linebacker to add. - - Houston 33. Max Jean-Gilles OG Georgia or 2nd option Ryan 'OCallaghan, OT California 65. Kelly Jennings CB Miami or Jason Allen S/CB Tennessee A CB or a fast safety would provide depth and help shore up our secondary. 66. Wildcard pick: Spencer Havner 6-3, 240 UCLA or any good OTs that fall: Daryn Colledge 6-5, 296 Boise State Andrew Whitworth 6-7, 330 LSU Jabari Levey 6-5, 320 South Carolina Jami Hightower 6-4, 365 Texas A&M Zach Strief 6-7, 350 Northwestern Jeremy Trueblood 6-8, 320 Boston College 97.If we took Giles then a center for the the future (one of these three): Kyle Young 6-5, 320 Fresno State Mike Degory 6-5, 296 Florida Nick Mangold 6-4, 300 Ohio State If we haven't taken an OG: Tatusi Lutui OG 6-5, 370 Southern California 129. Connor Hughes K Virginia (best kicker available at this pick) 161. Nick Reid 6-3, 230 OLB Kansas A real playmaker. 193. John Syptak DE/OLB 6-2, 255 Rice Another guy that just makes plays. Reid and Syptak would be wonderful special teams guys, at the least. Trades that make the most sense: Jets could trade down from 4 to get extra picks. Carolina might try to move up to get the best WR in the draft or drop back and pick up picks. |

Caveat:
I pulled most of the rankings from various ranking sites and mixed it with what I think we need. However, if we hire Kubiak then we need lighter linemen so I would take the same position but different players. IF we don't go with the Denver system, then I would love to see us go heavy. Also, if a good TE or WR were a BAP pick (especially at 65)(to fill our need for a 2nd WR - I think Gaffney and Mathis fill the WR3 and WR4 spots), then he would be hard to pass up. |

I think Arizona would take DeAngelo Williams over Lawrence Maroney, but I think with the OL players available in this draft they'll look to grab one of them to help their horrible OL.
I don't know how well Huff fits at Baltimore with Demps and Reed at S and McAllister and Rolle at CB. I would expect them to maybe go for a DL (more likely a DT) or else help out their offense. I think the Eagles will find some way to get a WR, maybe Santonio Holmes this high or else try to trade down to still get the best one available. You have Demeco Ryans going to Pittsburgh but say he would be an ideal fit for the Patriots. Last edited by MorKnolle; 01-03-2006 at 06:56 PM. |

Pittsburgh is the Steelers, not the Patriots.

Whoops, I had Ryans going to the Patriots then changed it - and didn't change the tagline.
AZ could go OL, RB or QB. I think RB is most easily solved at #10 but personally I would like to see them deal the pick for Culpepper (they have been burned by OL picks over the last few years and no QB is worth the pick). Several sites liked Huff going to Baltimore to replace Demps (they seemd to consider Demps a major weakness). It could make their secondary scary good. I think the Eagles will sign a free agent WR to be the veteran across from Brown (the rookie that did well this year), so they can go after the big back to complement Westbrook. |
